Nice shot, Jan. I guess you had to be a distance away to get it all in the frame.

Thanks Ken. I think I was about 100 Yds away. I shot this at 49mm.

The Wingfoot Two is actually a semi-rigid airship, also known as a dirigible. From the outside, it may not differ much from Goodyear’s blimps of the past, but the newer edition is built with a structured frame. That feature allows the Wingfoot Two to maintain its shape whenever helium is drained from its interior.
She is seen here from US 1 at the New Smyrna Beach Airport. If the wind is right, she will fly over my house on the way to Daytona.

Great shot Jan. I'll bet it was a sight to see. One used to fly over our house in PA and teather at the Reading Airport for the air show or on the way to the race at Pocono.

Beautiful image of an impressive vehicle - thanks for sharing!
Jan, it’s really cool that you spotted this. Great shot of the big bird at rest!
It was the autumn of 1954, I was not yet three years old. My folks had a little apartment above a garage just south of the old state fair grounds in Sacramento, CA. I was playing in my sandbox when the roar of engines and a giant shadow came over me. I looked up to see a US Navy dirigible overhead. Obviously, it made a big impression on me. Never get tired of looking at blimps, the just seem so elegant.
Thanks for digging up that memory for me. I hope they did fly over your house.
Rick

Thanks Doc. It flies over my house several times a year. I am on the final leg coming in for a landing if the wind is out of the North. I usually hear it long before I see it.
