Camera Club Incident. What now?
Hi,
First off I if I were to be entering into contest such as these, I would have a safety net for my photos. I would have had a Confirmation email set when I sent the photos so I would know he got them and on time. I can't tell you the amount of times I have sent things and they not get there. SO........ CYA...

Get the club to check with their service provider. I have had e-mails go missing, only to find out that Virgin had filtered them out as junk mail, before they even reached me. These were from a large organization as well, who must be sending out many e-mails each day. No explanation ever given, but at least the e-mails were still there on the server, and could be recovered. Don't be too quick to apportion blame to the club, as they probably know nothing about it. Also, tag your e-mail in the future for conformation of reciept.
Our club accepts competition photos by e mail,1050 long side, and sent one at a time. You are prompted when to send the second one and so on. You get an acknowledgement right away and also an e mail. This is all computer generated. We have a webmaster who has built our club an excellent site. Oh yes,and it rejects incorrectly sized submissions. From that point, the judges receive the submissions and it goes on from there.
Your problem sounds as if there is not a uniformly set up procedure.
Good luck.
send your images with return receipt, so you know they were opened. I have many issues with the camera clubs, included but not limited to : bias, favoritism, photoshoping images and entering under photography, etc etc. i still attend as it gives me ideas. However at the end of the day, i feel i am a misunderstood artist :)
Using return receipt upon opening? Stay in the club, mistakes happen
Larger picture (pun intended). Ask yourself why you are in the club. Is it the camaraderie of other photographers? The group shoots? The social aspect? Or is it the contest? If you truly enjoy being in the club, talking photography with like minded folks, then stay. If, however, you feel you've been wronged and this "judge" is deliberately trying to hurt you... you feel you can't get to the truth, and you're NOT having any fun, then leave.
If you enjoy the club then quiting over one incident is not right.
Most email programs have a limitation to size of attachments. Many are limited to around 10MB and some go as high as 100MB. The problem is that these limits are changed without warning.
I also discoverd that my Verizon FIOS has a blocker on it that kept me from sending a link to a YouTube movie. I found out how to turn the blocker off. It could be that you violated the size limitation or some other obscure rule of your program.
It could also be that the Gods of email were just pissed off that day and trashed your mail for you. As someone else pointed out in IT stuff happens! 8-)

Could it have gone to their SPAM?
Thats a real possibility...even when my own email service sends me a message (upgrades etc) it goes to my junk mail....go figure.
Have you about talking to whoever is in charge. Explain what happened. If the contest has not been judged maybe you can work this out. If you enjoy the people in the club I wouldn't just quit. You may still have a chance to enter even if you need to meet in person with the shots on a flash drive or actual prints. I will add that a camera club I once belonged to got too political and some control freaks were ruining things for everyone. We eventually split into two clubs. I joined the fun one.
To remove any doubt in your mind, send the same pictures to the same email address and this time set it up so that the reader automatically responds to having read the message. There is a way to do this in Internet Explorer.

The incident is that I emailed my images 3 days before the deadline to get them in for the judging night. The person who recieves these images says he did not recieve mine. He did not change email address and he recieved all my pictures last year. My computer shows the email as "sent." I get this impression that I am not being told the whole story about my images. I sent two flowers, fireworks, sun rays through tree leaves, and a multi-layered waterfall. I tell you that to show that there was nothing risque or objectionable.
My first thoughts are that I am done with this group, I can do many other things on Monday nights. Then I wonder if I am being to quick to respond this way?
I appreciate your advice on handling this situation. Thank you.

I would send him an e-mail and see if he gets it. I know that I was not getting e-mails from a friend only to find out that somehow I managed to block e-mails from that sender. Talk to the person in charge of the club. I belong to several camera clubs and enjoy them. I just hate to see someone quite something they enjoy.

I have been useing ReadNotify.com for many years. This tells you when the Email was read, how many times it was read and for how long the Email was opened. You also get a certified delivery confirmation.

What I would do is present a copy of the email to the club,....an email document is considered a valid legal document in many venues in todays world,...the document will be verifiably be time stamped and you photo attachments will be verified as being attached as well,....this proves you did in fact send the images before the deadline,...hopefully the managing body of your club will accept the verified proof of your entry.
Just my thoughts.
Good Luck.

In the future send them 3 days prior and ask 2 days prior if they got them so you still have time to resubmit.

As far as the club - have they shown you any other "Irresponsible" signs? Maybe time to find one that takes the submissions process more seriously.
