Not the casual shooter, but the serious hobbyist is the primary purchaser of DSLR cameras. And the the serious hobbyist will always want more than what a cell phone camera can deliver - optics, functionality, etc.
I think there is more of them than the "serious hobbyist". Their mindset will not move in a DSLR direction. The cell phone is easy they will not sweat the small stuff or waste time talking about ISO, Shutter speed or the rest of the BS.
