I have been there and found them a couple of times in the river but your shots show them out of the water. Where along the river do you typically find them. I know they roam all over but just curious where you found them.

They do roam but this year if go in on the Coon Bluff end and then walk east, you have a good chance of encountering them. Not every day is a success though!

Very nice set, the forth one is excellent, but it's the last one that I really like.

Thanks . . . It is so different I was undecided. It’s just about the exact opposite of what we usually try to achieve.

I'm taking advantage of the brief time we'll be in Arizona to spend as much time at the Salt River, taking pictures of the wild horses. Here a few of my favorites from my last trip.
The final picture was taken just before dark. Obviously my shutter speed should have been much higher but I actually kind of like the blurred effect of the two running horses. I'd particularly like your reaction to it.

Beauties, Sally!

Love the whole series and never get tired of seeing pictures of wild horses. I love the blur on the last shot, too.

Love your horse shots. The #1 fighting stallions is a really awesome shot. I cannot believe no one else has even noticed it thus far.

Thank you and I agree with your comment on the last photo. The blur is no doubt primarily due to inadequate shutter speed.

By their leg movement, it appears they are trotting rather than galloping.

Nice shots. We have an old mare that has been with us nearly 20 years that is reaching the end. Will be a sad day. When we have a nice day I need to take a final set of photos of her. She has been such a joy. One of the prettiest horses we have had the pleasure to be around. What a friend she has been. Will be much missed.

I don't think that people who are not horse people appreciate the bond that forms between the horse and rider. I have seen many instances of horses moving in such a way as to protect their rider from a fall. Horses sense the rider's mood as well. I was once training a quarter horse mare for a therapeutic riding program. At a trot she kept very quickly shying away from bunch of bushes in the corner of the ring. I finally took a risk and got completely relaxed into a slump in the saddle. She felt me relax and went around the ring as if nothing was there. Amazing animals.

Hi Sally, I like them all, and especially the mother and foal.

I subscribe to a number of sites (FB etc.) that follow the Salt River wild horses & efforts to protect them. I hope to get there one day. Thanks for your pics... They are among the best.
