I was driving past the New Smyrna Beach Airport and noticed that a B-17 was coming in for a landing, so when I got to the end of the runway, I got out my trusty little Panasonic Lumix and walked up to the chain link fence where I could get a good view of the Warbird. I tried a couple of shots through the fence, but didn't get a good shot until I decided to hold my camera up over the fence. I had not seen this bird before. The B-17 that usually came her for her annual was tragically lost in a fiery crash earlier this year with 7 lost souls. There is more info on the "Aluminum Overcast" can be seen here:
https://airwingmedia.com/videos/2012/wwii-b-17-flying-fortress-bomber-aluminum-overcast/ She will join her sisters the B24 and B25 for their Annual. I will attempt to get close while they are here and get some better shots.

Cool experience. Yes, I heard that one of those old planes that had been rebuilt to fly again had crashed. Sad. My Father-In-Law served on a B-17G during WWII.

I was sad to hear of the crash of the 909 Mike. I had the chance to go inside while she was here a few years ago. I have always thought that the B-17 was the best looking of the WWII Warbirds.

Thanks Mike. She will be here for a while, and I hope to get some close-ups, along with some of the B-24 and B-25

Beautiful aircraft. Of the almost 13 thousand built, I believe there's only around 15 left, which is better than the Lancaster bombers. Of the just under 7400 Lancaster's built, only 2 are still flying. Love that Merlin engine.

Beautiful plane. My wife remembers the sound of them flying over on their way to a target and the much different sound on their way back after unloading their burden.
