I've tried the various solutions to this problem that I've found online but to no avail and would appreciate any insight that our computer gurus might have.

I have frequently used ProShow Producer to put together slide shows with no problems. Recently I put together a slide show and when I attempted to burn it to disk discovered that my computer didn't recognize the blank disk. It kept asking me to insert a disk. I tried various disks of the same brand I've always used for this purpose with the same result. Next, I inserted several commercially produced disks that the computer recognized and played with no issues. Finally, I tried a disk that I had previously successfully burned from a Producer slide show on this computer and found that the computer did not recognize it either. So it appears that it recognizes and plays commercially produced disks, but not disks that I have previously produced on the same computer, or the blank disks used to produce them. I would appreciate any ideas that any of our members might have to address this very frustrating problem.

The only thing that I would suggest is see if you can find the manufacturer of the said drive and look for an update for it windows 10 moves so fast these days with updates that it can screw with outdated drivers this has worked for me with a Lg blue ray drive which stopped reading altogether hope this helps

I would not discount the blank DVDs as a potential source of the problem.

As a live music archivist and trader I've burned many a disc over the years. The vast majority of CDs & DVDs (haven't delved into Blu Ray yet) are very low grade product. I have run into partial and entire spindles that were garbage.

To find out for certain I used a few alternatives:
1. Different burning software.
I had Nero (came bundled), it wasn't reading or writing to disc anymore. Installed ImgBurn (freeware, no spyware but don't accept 3rd party software during install) and same discs burned fine.
2. Different computer.
If different software didn't solve it tried in another computer. If the disc was recognized (read, burned, copied, ...) problem was likely other drive. If not problem likely disc.
3. Different discs.
You need to look up the current media ID codes for the discs you are using. You CANNOT simply go by brand name. With a couple exceptions. The vast majority of discs come from the same plants regardless of what brand name (memorex, Sony, tdk, ...). There is only one, or maybe two, plants that manufacture quality discs for amateur/home use. ImgBurn will tell you what the information is for the disc loaded in the drawer if it can read it. This article talks specifically about DVDs but the same basics apply to CDs too: http://www.digitalfaq.com/reviews/dvd-media.htm
