having said in a previous post, your assignment is to travel to Weitchpec up on Hupa reservation in Northern California, situate your self in the front of a drift boat on the Trinity river and fly fish. When enticing a steelhead to bite your task will be to take the shot just as it tail walks. There will be fog. You will need to extend the end of the world day one more day to do this again. Guaranteed this is a bucket list kind of thing. No need to thank me.

I can sympathize...as a newbie to the world of "trying to get my work seen and possibly make a buck too," I think I've captured a terrific shot...until I see the work other amateur photographers have submitted in the same contest. I don't have photoshop <yet> and was of the understanding that, other than some basic lighting adjustments, photos submitted aren't supposed to be heavily photoshopped. But I love seeing "the art in nature" or a stunning sky or .. or .. or, and can't seem to stop trying to do better. My husband gave me my first "real" digital camera for my birthday last year, a Kodak Pixpro Bridge Camera...single lens...and so many settings I don't know enough about. In the past year I've mainly discovered that I need a better camera, lol. At least a rechargeable one with WiFi or bluetooth! Hang in there...it's the love of the sport, photography in this case, that satisfies the heart.
I can sympathize...as a newbie to the world of &qu... (show quote)

Welcome Aggie;

Photography, like any other art form is all about how you feel. If you go around trying to make others happy you'll quit way before you ever get started.

Think of photoshop as the darkroom of digital photography. Just like the great photographers of the film era who used the chemical dark room, if your a RAW shooter you have to put your work into the digital dark room to extract what the sensor (film) captured.

Looking forward to seeing some of your work.
