A student of mine was asked by a parent at a high school BB game if he would take photos of his kid who was playing in the game. He offered him 20 bucks...needless to say, he jumped on this and now offers to do it for 20 to 40 bucks at football games, BB games, etc...
I say, "what do you have to lose by asking?" Better to ask than to get thrown out on your ear or accused of being weird. You could actually make great contacts and future clients!
P.S. One of the local sports casters saw him (my student) at a school game and now he is taking photos for them and is gaining experience and credit. I think he's on his way to a great adventure in photography.
