Hornet in flight

Like most insects the hornet is quite predictable in it's flight pattern. This one flew past this spot every time it went into the roof cavity looking for spiders. It was very easy to capture this image with a 500mm lens once I knew where to point it and the focal distance. Iso was in the order of 16,000 and shutter speed was 1/6000

D500. f/5.6. It was late afternoon and the only way I could get the shutter speed to catch the hornet.

Frozen in the air yet the right wing is working hard.
