I was at Grounds for sculpture last Friday. Here is a quick before and after done in PhotoLab. I removed the people because they were a distraction. It always amazes me how much detail can be recovered from the sky. It may be a bit over sharpened though, Any opinions on that?

Very nice capture! A bit oversaturated for my taste, but pretty.

I dont find it over saturated or too sharp. I think you did a great job processing it, bringing out the details and texture. It's a beautiful shot.

Oversharpened? Depends. Objectively, no--it is crystal clear. Expressively, you have to ask yourself what the photo is about. Softening some areas or sharpening just some areas to bring out what is essential (if anything) to you is a possibility.

The only objective post processing problem I see is the masking of the outside edges of the trees against the sky. Photoshop has a good masking procedure to avoid that, but I am not familiar with PhotoLab.

A refreshing and quite enjoyable photo for me.

Hmmm. If there a direct relationship between New Jersey and Photolab?

Thanks, I was thinking that it might be a bit oversaturated as well, although I did not specifically modify the colors. It's probably a result of the various contrast tools and smart lighting feature available in PhotoLab. Sometimes it is a very fine line between being a bit oversaturated and just right. And often that fine line is dependent on the taste of the viewers.

I'm glad you enjoyed the scene. I to have a few other versions which I modified to fit specific moods. For them, I used DXO's creative blur, creative vignetting, and some softening. I was working on them yesterday, but decided not to share them until I finish deciding what I want them to look like. I'm always trying to find different ways of editing an image.

I was a little sloppy with the sky masking. I only had around 10 minutes to work on the image before an appointment, and didn't realize it until after I posted it.. Photolab is very fast to use, but you actually have to look at the image before deciding it done.

Thanks for your thoughts. Since posting it, I've noticed a few flaws that I will eventually fix.

As I mentioned, I was working on a few different ways of presenting this image. This one is softened and has reverse vignetting. It reminded me of a period postcard, an old advertisement or color slide, part of a travelogue or perhaps a book illustration. "Having a great time. Wish you were here."

Overall I like your composition. I like the parts of both images. I think you did a good job with the sky. However I like the color tone of the foliage in the original image. But that may be a personal preference. I tend to go a bit darker with my greens. I am referring to the two original images posted

Nice post processing. However, you may want to take a look at reflections in the water. While reduced, the reflections of people are still visible.

How about posting the EXIF data including the camera and lens and telling us exactly how you adjusted this picture? That might help others.
