Anyone heard of Ten Sleep, Wyoming? Found this place on Wy 16 between Mt Rushmore and Yellowstone.

On Google maps it looks like a great way to spend a day driving - rugged looking. I'll have to keep it mind. How was traffic?

I used to live in WY, and anyone who lives there knows where 10 Sleep is. This photo looks somewhat like around Sedona. Not a lot of people in WY, that's why they live there. I wish I had stayed but the wife (now EX.) was going stir crazy because of the wide open spaces and quietness. I should have listened to the wind and dumped her instead of my job.

Read C J Box. Best selling author.
Many novels about a WY game warden.

That is beautiful! Are you sure it's not called Ten Sheep?

It once was the site of the Girl Scout National Center West. Camped there ten days one summer with my wife’s senior GS troop.

We went through there Tuesday around 3:00PM. Didn't see too many other cars on the road at that time.

So named because it was a rest stop and 10 "sleeps" (days) from Fort Laramie.
It's interesting how/why many of the "odd named" towns out West received their names.

I remember Ten Sleep. From many years ago, I also remember Wildcat, WY, POP 12 on their roadside signpost. Many miles between gas stations.

Ten Sleep Canyon was on our itinerary when we took that same route. It was an amazing place. A wonderful shot that brings back memories. Thanks.

As I recall Wyoming is still right where you left it should you choose to go back. I love Wyoming and have been going there every year since the early 90's. I would have lived there except Idaho and Colorado got to me first. If I could only win Lotto or Powerball I would choose the Northeast corner of Wyoming as another home site.
