I only read the text, I don't speak french.
Within the first couple of days I heard reporting that the fire detection system went off, but the sensors malfunctioned and the staff went to the wrong area, delaying the discovery of the fire.

All I got from the interview was that there are some interesting points that may point to more to this than we have been told by the media. The man also talked about the detection systems and it was pointed out that no work was being done in the area the fire started.

The authorities there are way behind protecting historic sites for fire protection with modern sprinkler systems and such. If and when they get around to it, some idiot will install them wrong.

Lets see.... during renovation, it is discovered that the ceiling is toast- 800 year old oak, bugs, etc., etc..... they have no money to replace it, nor even money to design a replacement or to hire the special artisans and personal to re-produce it... what to do, what to do...
"Suddenly a light goes off in his head! a great big bright light- wait, no... it's a candle..."
And I quote, copy and pasted from: [https://www.thrillist.com/travel/nation/notre-dame-fire-damage-what-was-destroyed-or-saved] and collaborated elsewhere... :
"According to a tweet from Reuters and attributed to a fire official, “The structure of Notre-Dame has been saved from total destruction.” Meanwhile, French journalist Nicolas Delesalle tweeted, “Good news: all the artworks have been saved. The treasure of the cathedral is intact, the crown of thorns, the holy sacraments.” As of publication, it remains unclear what else has been saved."
Either a tragedy or a brilliant stroke of ingenuity... I mean if you were going do do something like this- when would you do it?

I did not hear him say the blaze "was no accident," as the title of the thread suggests. He did express incredulity as to how the fire spread so quickly. His opinion was that 800 year old oak is so hard that fire propagation would be a slow event.
I wonder if that is true. Seems like ancient wood would be thoroughly dry and dessicated, and I would think therefore more flammable. But he should be more expert on that than I!
If he made the comment that he thought it no accident, I missed it. Which could be as I was listening to the French and not reading the subtitles. But his message was definitely more about just not understanding how it could have happened so fast.

It was pretty clear from the moderator that the idea of arson was a taboo subject. It could be that arson would suggest a Muslim culprit and they have politically correct taboos in France about blaming Muslims.
