I think it would suck as a DSLR support. I'm pretty sure it was invented and designed for heavier video cameras. Solutions for video have become lighter cameras and electronic gimbals.

Yes and no. Depends on the shooting situation and the needs.

I asked him and he said "E-Z" or "Easy" or "EZ" something... but I forgot by the time I got home.

Just curious.

Thank you.

Wow! I guess if you can afford a camera and lens that weighs in excess of 20-25 lbs you can afford to drop 3 grand or so for a support system.

Have you looked at the $350 "DJI Osmo Pocket" that shoots rock steady, gimbaled 4K?

This is basically a toy for serious video shooters.

A decent tripod alone for one of these cameras comes in at about $7K minimum. Good lenses start at $20K and go up to over $100K.

Not all "serious video shooters" have big budgets. In most cases, most people won't know what is used to take the shot or used to to the processing. Looking at the output from this "toy" can make an adjustment to one's price/performance ratios!

Consider the "traveler/tourist" that is serious about coming home with quality video clips.

Osmos are good, but limited. I'm talking about professionals. The 4K video is highly compressed, 8 bit only, which limited dynamic range, not really suitable for grading. A small sensor means limited low light capacity, with a fixed lens. So yes, it's fine for many consumer applications, but can't match what a larger camera can do. And that is before we get to audio. .
