You made a good upgrade choice. Even though I have 3 full frame Canons, I still get a lot of use out of my 80D, especially with a long lens. My wife also uses it.
I still find uses for my SL1 and SL2 though. I use the SL2 for video mostly but, they are still decent little cameras.
By the way, nice photos.

A great series Sally. The downloads are spectacular. You've gotten used to the 80D very quickly. Mahalo for sharing.

With your excellent eye for composition, whatever camera you use, will be just fine!

I recently upgraded from my Canon Rebel SL1 to a Canon 80D. I'm delighted with the step up. It is so much faster focusing resulting in fewer rejects. And, I've so happy with the results with higher ISO photos. I never would have even considered trying an ISO as high 3200 but have reasonable results with the 80D.
As always, I sincerely appreciate your comments and suggestions.
I think the young stallions frolicking are where the phrase "Just horsing around" came from.

Wow...outstanding shots of those awesome and beautiful horses!!

Really nice set. Enlarged downloads show your 80D handles 3200 ISO flawlessly, your compositions and exposure choices are credit to you. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much for the kind words!

Thanks for the kind words. This is such an improvement over my Rebel especially for focusing speed and low light conditions.

The lens is a Canon 100-400mm, IS II. I upgraded the lens last summer. It’s a wonderful lens and now I finally have a camera to match its quality.

You’re so close!! This spring is a great time. We’ve had so much rain that the desert is beautiful and the horses are in great shape.

I plan to hold on to my SL1. There are times when it would be great to have the second camera with a wide-angle lens along. It served me well!! For the kind of photography I like to do, I really can’t see myself switching to a full-frame but that may change.

beautiful images of some beautiful animals. Can I ask where this Salt River is located? We have wild horses here in our state in the Theodore Roosevelt National Park

The Salt River is about 15 miles from Mesa, Az in the Phoenix area. We were in the TR National Park last summer. I had hoped to see your horses but didn’t manage to!
