The "main stream" is fine. It's some specialist media and certain people who have now interest in telling the truth.
IMHO Jerry. That was definitely true when "Journalism" was an honorable enterprise and meant something....it had established rules....it was honest...it was "uncolored/unbiased." Not sure I agree anymore, and particularly amongst the "main stream" sources.
The media outlets today ALL have an agenda. Good, bad or ugly...it is THEIR agenda to bias or manufacture the facts as they see fit. Facts are facts, but interpretation (spin) is our current problem.
It seems to me that today's media is much more intent on forcing/swaying public opinion, than on reporting the facts objectively.
Just my $.02

I would agree with you but "Congress" and not given Trump any bills to sign. So the real shut-down King is congress not Trump! Both sides.......
That’s Mitch “No Balls” McConnell’s fault. If McConnell and his minions really cared about Americans he would let the Senate vote on the bill that has passed the house and send it to Trump. Then if Trump vetoed it, override Trumps veto and let the country get back up and running. McConnell is a gutless spineless succubus who needs to just resign and go home.
(Thank you for letting me get that off my chest - but I just despise that unprincipled sleaze ball)

If it weren't for double standards, the left would have no standards at all.

Before this winds up in the “attic” :
I quickly found coverage of the story in the Washington Post and from Fox News. So much for claims that the main stream press did not report it.
There is no way to deny the “visuals” from taking such a trip during the shut down; however attempts (no surprise) were made to justify it and describe it as a business trip.
The President remained in Washington. Nice visuals, no results. I leave it to each reader to judge who is most responsible for a failure to compromise.

Obama left office 2 years ago, read a book.

You certainly have your right to express an opinion. Actually, Trump is doing exactly what he promised he would do....and America elected him based on those promises. I may not like his demeanor either, but he hasn't changed one iota from well before his election. He is exactly the same man we elected. Could it be that the non-republicans who voted for another candidate, now continue to see that the train comes off the tracks? Isn't it too bad that so many people would rather see President Trump fail, than to see America succeed?...
Problem is, there are laws on our books that have not been, and are not being enforced. My ancestors came here through Ellis Island. They applied for entry and their entry was pre-approved. Among other things, they had to have a sponsor in this country who would GUARANTEE that they would have a home, that the immigrant would learn to speak English, would get a job, would uphold the laws and customs of our land, and would be contributing citizens to our society. These are the qualities that immigrants once brought to this country.
You spoke of putting the needs and concerns of America first? I think Americans voiced their concerns when our President was elected.

Does anyone seriously believe that Puerto Rico is a prime place for "junkets" since it is still struggling to recover from the hurricane? And what about the First Lady taking a $35,000 flight on an Air Force 757 to Florida?
And does anyone think that our "Congressional Delegation" will stay in any "struggling" area of Puerto Rico? Get real. These thieves have lived off the public dole for too long for that nonsense.
As far as the flight to Florida.....secret service protection, and the crazies have 'dictated' that the First Family travel with guarded Air Force transportation. Not sure where/how the $35K price is determined....the US already owns the planes...and the pilots....and their time. The fuel would not be that much for sure. Sounds like unadulterated BS propaganda to me.

Re: shutdown blame:
Pelosi has said no way to adding money for the wall.
Trump has said he will not budge one inch on the wall demand.
Sounds to me like there's no interest in negotiation on either side. Therefore both sides must share the blame for the continuation of the shutdown.

Actually Trump has moved a lot and been open to negotiations.

I, for one, do not assign blame to any individual or party. The legislature makes laws...the senate establishes the budget...and the president has the right to veto. Wonderful balance of power, set in the Constitution of the U.S.. Our forefathers were geniuses.... They got it right....
These are very interesting times...although not particularly unique nor particularly noteworthy in the history of our country. I'm actually loving this. We finally have elected a president, who is doing what he said he was going to do. How refreshing for a change... Right, Wrong, or Indifferent .... Trump was elected legally and thus represents the will of the American people. (Yup...I don' expect all to agree with this.)
Several previous Presidents have described the need to secure our borders.
We are a sovereign nation...a nation of laws.
Securing our borders is a Federal/Constitutional requirement.
What legitemate questions remain?
Wasn’t it the darling of conservatives, Ronald Reagan, who told Gorbachev, “Tear down this wall!” Now conservatives want walls. Go figure. Different situation, but same principle.

No, that is a fact.

Not apples and oranges, Stan....not same example at all. The Berlin Wall separated the same people, for political reasons. Conservatives want observance of current law.... as approved by our elected representatives, senate, president and courts. What's not to understand?
