What about the lower paid federal workers. How about the pages in Congress?

Yes they may cry they are not getting what they think they should be, problem is - I recall the reason for working for the government was not the pay, but for the benefits at one time. Today they want both.

Yes, there probably are some people that might have t ration their meds, but I'd bet a months wages that it's mostly those that are living paycheck to paycheck and made zero effort to put aside a little savings or stockpile a few meds for a rainy day. I know that there are some that simply can't. They were born with the kind of personality or upbringing that caused them to be this way. Or something has happened recently where they can't save. But that could happen in any situation because there's no such thing as a permanent steady job. My father used to refer to those jobs as "cradle to grave" jobs.

I know a 54 year old dude that is a security guard making minimum wages. He's got a guard card, a car, insurance, smokes a pack of cigs a day, and lives paycheck to paycheck. No health insurance. I know this guy well. He's frickin lazy as all get out. He makes no effort to find a better job, or to try and work two jobs. I know another guy that just retired. He was an insurance agent. To aid in his retirement he found a security guard job at a nice resort paying $19/hr. Why couldn't the first fellow keep looking for something like that? He's lazy. There's people like this everywhere. They have no drive to better themselves. I got laid off one time and had to drive a cab to make ends meet. I drove for Uber for a while to supplement my income. I've worked as many as 3 jobs at one time. Stuff happens and we need to be responsible for ourselves and quit holding the government responsible for our existence.
