I often post things on here and us Brits are always criticised by Americans that we are ruled by the Queen. Which is nonsense the Queen has no power over government and would quickly be overruled by the government of she tried something like Mr Trump has. So my question is if the president can shut down the government which country is run by government and which run by a demigod.

I believe we have a system that is eminently superior to yours so no comments from the losers who are not citizens.
PS we have individual liberty here still, have the right to self defense preserved from government intervention and free speech with the same protection from the government.
In fact our Declaration of Independence explained very clearly your total failure in preservation of liberty.
Then we wrote the Constitution again in response to the pathetic form of government in the UK and the current absolute disaster it is there now and chaos and high crime.

1 - The government is not shut down.

2 - We are barely still the land of the free as our one party system is inching us ever closer to Eurabian style socialism.

3 - We are not a democracy, we are .... barely still ... a Republic. Democracy is inherently evil, it is two wolves and a lamb voting on who is dinner.

4 - I agree that people who belittle England’s efforts in the two world wars are ignorant of history.

Late to WWII?
Yeah, because we didn't start it.
But when the "Sleeping giant was awakened" we kicked butt and got it over with while you were cowering on your little island and watching the "Empire" collapse like a house of cards to third rate powers. We had to gear up and then rolled over Germany and Japan like they were nothing. You lost the far east without even a fight hardly, same for Africa. If we had not given you supplies and materials you would have folded in a matter of months prior to our official entry into WWII. Not sure what they teach you there but we armed the world including the Soviets.
It wasn't our fight, like WWI wasn't but we finished it.
PS After WWII the "Empire" was gone and GB was just a little island needing the USA for defense to this day.

By the way the supplies and materials we were paying you back for till 2006 and the two"Enemy nations" were rebuilt by you. True we are a little island with no natural resources and nowhere near the manpower the US could muster but we did stand up on our own to one of the most evil regimes the world has seen whilst you were twiddling your thumb's until the awful Japanese attack on pearl harbour.

In fairness I could make a, weak yet better, argument that the US and UK made great contributions to the factors
leading to WWII ... but nothing changes the fact that Germany/Japan were the initiators of violence.

In addition, the UK held off the entire axis powers almost single handed until 1942 in fighting the Euro front, the African front and the Pacific front with roughly 1/5 the US population.

I think you will find that after the battle of Britain where we stuffed the Luftwaffe, Goering could not guarantee air superiority so operation sealion was cancelled and Hitler moved to the Russian front where blitzkrieg could be used once more.
