I did not realize that Nikon still sold the 35/2D lens but, according to the B&H site, they sure do. So you got yourself a lens worth more than twice as much as the one your ordered, provided it's a new USA version lens. Not a bad deal. Sorry for your troubles but you made out.

I guess Wal-Mart sucks on-line just like they do in brick and mortor…Just my valued opinion of Wal-mart.

It is the FIRST place I go these days, Walmart Online. They have ten times the variety of the stores, ship for free to my local Walmart, and a great return policy. Sure, I use B&H like may, but other than specialized stuff, Walmart first for me.

My son works at WalMart and he and his fellow workers go out of their way to help customers whenever they can. He also comes home with stores of irate customers who shout at and belittle the floor staff and managers often because of some error on their (the customer's) part or worse, in a attempt to defraud WalMart by returning an item they never purchased from WarMart or that they broke from misuse. This is not necessarily to defend WalMart; they offer low cost by offering poor quality merchandise, by reducing overhead costs such as customer service and by using low bid subcontractors. Sounds like the real villain here is Pixibytes.

Whenever I purchase from Walmart or Amazon, I only go through with the purchase IF the purchase is fulfilled by Walmart/Walmart.com, or Amazon/Amazon.com - I have had some good and some not so good Third Party Fulfillment by both outfits. When fulfilled by Walmart or Amazon proper, never had an issue. Both outfits have a great record (with me) for fulfillment, but their third party sellers can be anywhere from good to horrible, requiring extra effort to have a satisfactory experience, or get your money back. There are a couple third party vendors (Beach Camera for Walmart) that deliver the product ordered in reasonable time, but a lot of them are way worse than many Ebay stores.

The biggest problem with Walmart third party is that return and refunds are more difficult, since the items can't be returned to the store, so more shipping and time. In this case all came out good for the OP, hey, you got a free lens and a gift cert. for your efforts, beats a sharp stick in the eye!! Sell the lens (or donate it to someone in need for greater satisfaction) and desapite all that went on - you won!

I recently purchased an item from Walmart’s on line store. The item I recieved was the wrong one. Went to the local Walmart, and was told they couldn’t refund me because it was a third party seller. The seller kept asking me for pictures of the item, and product number, which I provided. This request occurred about every 2 days (different reps). Eventually I complain enough that Walmart finally issued me the credit.
This is the first problem I ever had with Walmart, and will go to their store. The vendor was called Thousandshores, and they were horrible to deal with.

Two for the price of one. I'm sure it was frustrating but in the end your perseverance won the day. I read somewhere that your free lens is actually half way decent.

In an act of insanity, I decided to use the walmart gift cards I received for christmas this year and by the Nikon lens I needed A nikon 35mm f1.8 AF-S DX lens. I usualy order my gear directy from Nikon but I got greedy and thought I could save some dough by using my gift cards and pay the remainder on my Visa. The company that Walmarts Marketplace used for most Nikon Gear is Pixibytes out f NY york.

When I opened up the package I found a Accessory kit and not the lens I ordered but a Nikon 35mm f2 D AF-S lens. I called Walmart and I also Called Pixi-bytes. Pixibytes never responded and Considering that they have an F rating by the BBB I was not surprised. Walmart called and said they would fix the problem and I believed them.

On monday morning I called Walmart and told them that Pixibytes did not contact me in any way shape or form. I got real loud and told them to stop trying to send the lens Walmart could never ship me in the first. They simply can do nothing correct.

After running out of time I went to work and called Walmart a third time and asked for my money back. She said I had to talk to a manager in order to get that done. After waiting what seems like forever the anager comes on the line and tell me I have the wrong manager. I had to talk to the Marketplace manager. Now waiting forever and a day The manage of the Marketplace issued me a refund and put the gift card funds back on my gift cards. When I asked them if they were going to issue a call tag to return the wrong lens they shipped me, she simply said. "throw it away, give it Goodwill or just keep it for yourself."

I reordered my lens from Nikon and receicved a $30 discount because now the lens was on sale.

And what did I get for my trouble a brand new 35mm F2.0 AF-S d lens that I absolutely have no use for, 2 gift certificates and $30 off my new lens.

Thank you for shopping at Walmart Online.

P.S. I now a person in the military that purchased a very expensive targeting laser through a diiferent division of Walmart. When he got the package he had ordered he found one extremely expensive toothrush. Yes it is true names have been changed to protect the innocent.

Caveat Emptor.

Most of the online sites that use third party fulfillment will back up your purchase and eventually make things right. But sometimes the hassle isn't worth it.

That 35mm f/2 lens is a fine piece of glass. You can probably sell it to KEH.com or MPB.com or B&H or Adorama and recoup a tidy sum.

Good points. If the third party is Abe's of Maine, Pixi-Bytes, or 42nd Street Photo, PLEASE run away, fast!

If the third party is Cameta Camera, B&H, Adorama, Roberts, KEH, or MPB, you should have an excellent experience.

Thanks for the holiday chuckle... a company that let's guess sells a TRILLION items per year made a mistake during the holiday season on an item they farmed out because it is not in their wheelhouse of expertise... holy cow, news alert!

"Stuff happens"!

I know someone who ordered a full frame Canon camera from Amazon Direct... was very excited when it arrived, but extremely disappointed when they opened the box to find instead it was filled with pieces of wood! (Either it was a return someone hadn't checked or they had a problem with employee theft at the warehouse.) Amazon made it right, but at first didn't believe the buyer.
