In an act of insanity, I decided to use the walmart gift cards I received for christmas this year and by the Nikon lens I needed A nikon 35mm f1.8 AF-S DX lens. I usualy order my gear directy from Nikon but I got greedy and thought I could save some dough by using my gift cards and pay the remainder on my Visa. The company that Walmarts Marketplace used for most Nikon Gear is Pixibytes out f NY york.

When I opened up the package I found a Accessory kit and not the lens I ordered but a Nikon 35mm f2 D AF-S lens. I called Walmart and I also Called Pixi-bytes. Pixibytes never responded and Considering that they have an F rating by the BBB I was not surprised. Walmart called and said they would fix the problem and I believed them.

On monday morning I called Walmart and told them that Pixibytes did not contact me in any way shape or form. I got real loud and told them to stop trying to send the lens Walmart could never ship me in the first. They simply can do nothing correct.

After running out of time I went to work and called Walmart a third time and asked for my money back. She said I had to talk to a manager in order to get that done. After waiting what seems like forever the anager comes on the line and tell me I have the wrong manager. I had to talk to the Marketplace manager. Now waiting forever and a day The manage of the Marketplace issued me a refund and put the gift card funds back on my gift cards. When I asked them if they were going to issue a call tag to return the wrong lens they shipped me, she simply said. "throw it away, give it Goodwill or just keep it for yourself."

I reordered my lens from Nikon and receicved a $30 discount because now the lens was on sale.

And what did I get for my trouble a brand new 35mm F2.0 AF-S d lens that I absolutely have no use for, 2 gift certificates and $30 off my new lens.

Thank you for shopping at Walmart Online.

P.S. I now a person in the military that purchased a very expensive targeting laser through a diiferent division of Walmart. When he got the package he had ordered he found one extremely expensive toothrush. Yes it is true names have been changed to protect the innocent.

Wow, this is a sad story and a great way to ruin a highly anticipated gift for yourself.
Can't you get your money back?
This really sucks.

Imagine for a moment....it is the run up to Christmas, the shops are heaving with people running around like headless chickens. The roads are clogged up with delivery vehicles and the drivers are so pushed for time they are hurling packages around and not making sure customers are actually in, before leaving their purchases. People are following the delivery vans and stealing boxes from doorsteps. Everyone is frantic about 'buying gifts' 'hoping people like their gifts' and worrying about how they are going to pay for the extravagance called Christmas.

I reckon the poster got a great service from Walmart considering.....Probably worth the wait and two phone calls......after all you were not fighting your way through all those 'headless chickens'.

Just a thought at this Christian festival time.

Sad but - if I read your post correctly you now have a free 35mm f/2 AF-S lens - got to be worth $200+ on Ebay.

There's a reason B&H, Adorama and Samys are so successful.

It's actually a very good lens. Why do you have no use for it?

Simply because he wants to rant. Most people would praise the customer service he received after the initial error which actually was created by a third party company.

All online stores have difficulties at times. I ordered a square back 17' canoe and when it was delivered the carrier had used a machine to load it into the truck and put a big scratch on the side of it. I called to tell them that it was damaged and the company had the originator send another. When this one came in, I check it before they unloaded it and it too was damaged (not beyond use but just in looks) so I refused it and just cancelled the order to buy one locally. I inquired about shipping the first one back and was told they don't except damaged goods back so I got the $875.00 canoe free. All online companies have problems.

You also have to remember at this time of year, stores are filled with "seasonal help". These are people who usually have no experience with retail and they know the job is ending when the season is over. Take a new worker and throw hundreds of online orders at him and then have him go find the actual product you want in the store and get it ready for shipping, and you can see how mistakes are made. No excuses. But that's what happens in retail. My daughter works online shipping (she's not seasonal) for Kohls and she tells me the new people really don't care, since they know their job is temporary. I guess just be glad you got your money back and if you don't want the lens they let you keep, sell on eBay. At least you can get cash for their mistake.

I'll take that free lens, that you have no need for, off your hands and pay the shipping too!

My son works at WalMart and he and his fellow workers go out of their way to help customers whenever they can. He also comes home with stores of irate customers who shout at and belittle the floor staff and managers often because of some error on their (the customer's) part or worse, in a attempt to defraud WalMart by returning an item they never purchased from WarMart or that they broke from misuse. This is not necessarily to defend WalMart; they offer low cost by offering poor quality merchandise, by reducing overhead costs such as customer service and by using low bid subcontractors. Sounds like the real villain here is Pixibytes.
