Can you tell me what the small metal clip is for? It has two screws in it. I haven't seen one for a while and I have forgotten.

Hi Dan. This "small metal clip" is the coupling attachment for the meter. This lens was produced way before auto focus, or auto aperture. Focus, aperture and zoom range must be set manually.

Hello Peter:
I forgot to ask you that:" Does this lens fit Nikon D810 FX format camera ?
I saw your answer to a question saying that this lens is manufactured way back before
the autofocus technology. I would wonder how does it work on my Nikon D810.
Your responses are highly appreciated. Thanks.
Regards,
Tung Pho

yes, but as a manual focus. All the original Nikon lens work in the FX format (full frame).
Nikon just recently made a brand new camera system with different lenses.....for the first time in 75 years.

Hello Peter:
I did a little research about the lens and find out that the lens would work on my D810 but I have to do the focusing and aperture manually and also have to
set the camera on Manual mode. I'm a little old to remember those adjustment efficiently. I wish to pass this on to someone who is more apt to these manipulation.
I apologize for any inconvenience that I may cause you. Thank you so much for your kind attention.
Best regards,
Tung Pho

Yes the lens will work, but manually.
Both the aperture and focus will be manual.

The lens was made before digital cameras which have all the talk between the meter&focus and the lens.

Set the camera to manual and thats all there is to make it work.
Nice smooth zooming and focus.
