Hello, I am considering enrolling in the NYIP Program, but before I do this I was wondering if anyone on this forum have gone through the program or currently enrolled. I would be interested in your opinion on this program and considering its an accredited program if it would qualify for the Adobe Software student discount. As always, I've received great feedback from this forum, so thanks in advance!

Hi I am just finishing a course with them and have found the units, books cds and comments from the tutors extremely helpful I only have one more unit to do before I finish and consider it well worth the cost.

This is a school that has been around since around about 1985 at least and a friend who could not afford to go to college took the course [back in the film days] and just retired after 25 years in the business
I do not know about the discount that is something that you will have to discuss with them

My daughter also took their course and is now a professional photographer--and credits NYIP for her job

I have not gone through the course but have heard a lot of good things about it here on-site.

I looked up the Adobe Student discount a year or so ago for my son and to get it you had to have some sort of proof you were a student, photo ID prefered (but not necessarily required). Check out the Adobe site, look up student discount for details.

Alternatively, NYIP probably has a very simple way to purchase it on their own site, considering their curriculum.

Many members here would probably appreciate an up-date on this question if you determine the exact answer.

I'm currently enrolled in the Photoshop course with NYIP. I've been traveling and busy, so I'm not making very good time...I'm only on unit 3, but the materials and interaction with a real person are very good. I'd recommend it.

NYIP is well worth the invevestment in both your money and time. I havve taken the NYIP course in Professional Photography and found it well thought out anf complete. The Instructors were very helpful. NYIP now has an Aluni Association. NYIP is a respected institution that has been in operation since 1915.

The way I read Adobe's requirements to qualify for the student discount on Photoshop is that you have to be enroll in a program that ultimately ends in a degree (associates or Bachelor's). While checking out the program at NYIP for myself, I saw that's it's a certificate program, meaning that even if it takes you two years to complete, it still isn't a "degree" That being said, whether you have a certificate or a degree or no technical training at all-just experience, isn't going to matter to your potential customers, all they care about is how good you are and what your photos look like. I myself intend to enroll in the basic program when I can afford it. I noticed the big difference between the two programs was that the Professional Program covered the business aspect as well as the photography, since I already have a business (granted-it's a general store/pizza joint), I already have some idea of business management. I wish you the best of luck, and truly hope you get the education you so desire! Keep us posted!

Thanks a bunch for all the feedback. Shall1585 you are correct about the Adobe student discount, it is only offered to full time students and according to the advisor, not needed for the Photoshop for Photographers course. Thanks again for all the feedback, I truly appreciate it.
