The poles, trellis wires and twine used to grow hops crops. Yakima County produces 75% of the nation's supply, so there are many photo ops

Spellbinding images, Linda. They'd work nicely in the 'music' challenge currently in play. Number three is my favorite, but the abstracted fourth is nothing to sneeze at. Very nicely done!

Many thanks, Randy! It might be a surprise to know those are redwing blackbirds! Apparently, they earn a good living in the agricultural areas after harvests of both corn and hops.

Thanks for commenting, Jerry. You've given me an excuse to post one of the harvest. I find the machine they use - which is what leaves behind the knots - quite amazing!

A dramatic variety of approaches. #1 grabs my attention but it is almost uncomfortable. It is kind of a mental wake up call with its starkness. It is not to be ignored. I had to feel a reaction. I love #3 and it is almost opposite in its affect on me. It is rich, warm and comfortable. I relax and enjoy looking at it. #4 makes me laugh. It is light and fun.

I would say this is a very successful series. Each individual shot invokes an emotional response.

Very nice - and interesting - set, Linda! Does it smell really nice when the hops are growing and being harvested?

Very interesting images Linda. The b&w conversion is excellent.
I like No. 3 very much.

Thank you so much, Carol! I'm very gratified to hear that each touched you in one way or another. #4 is a result of playing with the befunky.com app I use with my Chromebook. It actually does layers, but selective edits are a little harder to control - of course I'm usually using just a touchpad when in it. I didn't write down the two effects that gave me this (from a b&w original) - wish I had

Thank you, Steve! It's a pleasant odor, I'd say I think mowing hay is nicer - wonder if that relates to some childhood memory??

Thank you very much, William! You might have noted the textured sky in #3; I like the final look of that pic also.

Linda Thanks for posting these, they are so intriguing on several levels. Beauty, arcane, unknown things revealed. and the last a good start for a score for an abstract marimbist. Thanks so much they captivated me. RBorud.
