I have just returned from St. Louis' Busch Stadium and Gateway Arch.

The weather sucked. Cloudy and Humid. Humid and Cloudy. I would have fared better in the frigging Amazon. At least there's no asphalt there.

For about 30 min. the sun popped out.

I do believe the Gateway Arch needs a variety of light striking it to collect interesting images. These shots that I have posted are not those images.

I will return next spring for a Cubs/Card game and better air to photograph in. Any suggestions what-so-ever.

CHG_CANON Loc: the Windy City

Try a 1-image HDR are on the 2nd from the bottom. You probably can create a more interesting image from this one. The bottom is a great view of the old Courthouse and arch. Again, some more processing will help although the clouds have less structure. On your next visit, try at twilight at the base of the arch looking up. Visit the museum in the Courthouse, for the history of the western expansion, the history of the courthouse and the amazing view of the dome inside.

Craig, I live here in St. Louis, and not far from the Arch. I have many images. You have very workable ones. The one with the power cables, I would leave that one alone. I agree with CHG in that you have very workable images. In Photoshop or whatever software you are using, consider the LEVELS function, and then the Color Temp function. You can turn one or two of these into stellar images, so don't give up on yourself.

I was to STL twice last fall, the 2nd time including my first ride up to the top of the arch. But, the work on the park was still not done. I saw the news that finally all that work has been finished so you can walk from the courthouse / downtown to the Arch without crossing through traffic.

I live a short train ride from the Arch (I live just on the other side of the river). The only Cards game I've seen in a couple years was the Cubs/cards game on my birthday a month and a half ago...Cubs won like 13-5 :). A few years ago I went up in the Arch and took an 8-or-9 shot stitched pano. took forever on my old laptop, but it turned out relatively decent. I have yet to go the photography museum (www.iphf.org), located a few blocks from Powell Hall (SL Symphony) and the Fox Theater (concerts/plays).

Hi David-- Wonderful sunset shots of the Arch. I'm confused, though. I took the Amtrak from Chicago and the train arrived at 12:30 pm. Passed the very part you took your photos.

A few questions. What year were the Great Barrier Reef photos taken? The coral seemed a bit dull, so I'm thinking recently. I scuba-dived there in 1982 and the colors were brilliant (damned global warming)

Ayer's Rock: Only one photo in the bright of day. Weren't you able to hang around for the rock to change colors?

I've lived in 5 continents. No Photos.
Didn't buy my first camera till I was 60. Wahhh!
