Welcome to Day 211 :) Today it's all about Why You Became A Photographer. I just kind of stumbled my way into it. Bought a camera and took pictures. It wasn't until this forum that I even remotely became interested in knowing how my camera worked. I have found that there are so many moments in life that need to be documented.
Here are just a few. I look forward to seeing what drives y'all.

Wow, with your wonderful photos today, along with the others, I'm seeing sites that I've never seen! (pg. 2)

I am happy to see you start us out today, although RiverNan did a great job while you were in your private time.

I started taking pictures with a Kodak film camera when I was twelve years old. My aunt gave it to me to document the small trips we made.

My reasons for taking pictures changed as I grew aware of the beautiful moments in life and hoped folks would see them as I through the lens of the camera.

You've been in my thoughts and prayers ~ good to see you back! Love the examples! I've always loved photography and I got my first Kodak at age 11. We didn't have a lot of money for film or developing so each photo I took had to really count! I got my first digital camera, an impressive 2mp Olympus when the local KMart went out of business about 12 years ago, and used it extensively in my Real Estate business. I talked my husband into investing in my first DSLR when our 5th grandchild, a lightening fast little girl, was born 2 1/2 years ago. There is hardly a day that goes by that I don't photograph something! I guess you could say that I'm loving capturing as many memories as I can ~

Love your photos, mgstrawn. The views are breath taking, and the family memories you've recorded freeze that time forever.

Kinda like freeze a moment in time.....preserve, share,recall....Things of beauty, unusual creations, growing phases of children, monumental occasions along life's way, relish life's exposures. I guess that's why.I've always been called an artist of sorts
Went to the first reunion of the Johnson/Peterson Family yesterday. Peterson is my maiden Name. At the church my grandfather John was a founding member of in the late 1800s.So I'll share a few of those frozen in timers!

Morning SHERRIE...so glad to see you... one day leads to two...Im pretty certain now you will feel better every day....

Geez this might be the toughest one yet since Im not really sure. And I have a zillion pics from before digital that I have not scanned...hmmmmmm and can not access anyway since the electricity went out last night and the house network is not reconnected.

Like MG...I have been with camera since very young...as I recall I EARNED MY FIRST KODAK instamatic by collecting BAZOOKA JOE bubble gum comics and sending them in for my prize.

In my 20's when we still took film for developing, a shop owner asked me to submit a pic to a contest and it took second place and I won an automatic camera kit...long story short I traded it for a vivitar slr....which I used mostly to record travel and family pics.

at 53 I took early retirement from a long career serving the public, in mental health, corrections and finally education...kinda burnt out...when I finally shook myself out of it i picked up my camera a digital olympus point and shoot...and one thing led to another and next thing I knew my photos were selling in a local garden center and I was doing photojournalism in magazines...heheheheh HOW DID THAT HAPPEN?

Finally I found you all here and my skills have improved so much just since JAN 1...AND SHERRIE has enlightened me to photoshop and well this is what i think i want to show you today.

I can clone...heheheheheheheh
I know I showed you all this but not sure Sherrie saw it.
Im not afraid of PHOTOSHOP ANY MORE and learned how to sign my pics
Morning SHERRIE...so glad to see you... one day le... (show quote)

You are doing quite well with Photoshop, I see. How did you learn do to these things. (Love the name signing and no hands!)

In addition to photographing special family memories, I so enjoy taking landscapes! Especially when it comes out of the camera exactly as you remember; nature so perfect that you don't need a dab of post processing!

Lovely landscape! I don't like it when a photo requires a lot of pp. It seems to take away the naturalness of the photo. The shot of your happy children is to be cherished.

Good Day Sherrie I started back in the 6th grade when my dad taught me how to develop B&W film. i had a twin lens reflex shot roll film. I tend to document what i see, where I have been. I loved the darkroom manipulating prints with light and shadow. Pushing tri-x to its limits. I did some PP way back with the first photo programs but never go really good at it. Just one today from the ny\pa border where I grew up.

I wish I had known about Pano when I took it

Thanks for your words. I never really thought about it, but it is important for my photos to evoke emotion because the view through the lens does it to me.
