Just now starting to come across news ....
I really didn’t expect a good outcome on this. Thank God.

This
is the wrong section, and cave photography is actually quite hard to do, having been a caver (spelunker) and being a photographer I can attest to that. These guys were both stupid and lucky. They really didn't prepare or check the weather reports, nor understand what happens in live ( meaning active stream way ) cave systems when it rains heavily. Yet, despite the stupid risks that they took, the cave system was big enough to allow them to find a place of safety to sit out their dilemma. I'm not surprised that they were found alive, but in a smaller cave it could have been curtains. I doubt they will ever do the same thing again.

I care. I read several articles about this from news sources. If everyone posted whatever's of interest to them, we'd be knee deep in non-related articles to wade through to find the photography posts.

I’ve been following that re he effect all week. Im actually surprised they’re alive.
In my mind, the most critical aspect to staying alive would have been to conserve battery life in flashlights. And not knowing how long you’ll be there, if not forever, could easily not use battery life wisely! So glad for such a positive outcome.

That's a logical assumption, until you've been trapped in a cave. Technology has changed a lot, especially with LED lighting. Preserving light isn't too hard these days, so long as people can cope with being in the dark. Water is most important to survival, food is important also, but less so. Oxygen is critical, and ambient temperature is another very important factor.
This cave was big enough to find a safe space with enough oxygen, staying dry, and the ambient temperature was around 68 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit which makes hypothermia a lower risk over several days. So staying above the water, and staying warm, and finding potable water to drink would be the main things, along with not panicking.
I've never been trapped in a cave, but I have rescued some that were. Those guys in Thailand were lucky, but the circumstances were on their side fortunately.

Last I heard they are not rescued yet. They have been found, but getting them out looks like a problem. They're not rescued until they're out and medically evaluated.

I agree but at least now supplies can be brought in along with personnel.
They may have to live there till the monsoon stops!!!

True, but even if they have to stay there for several more days they will have supplies and will know that they will eventually be extracted. Medical stuff doesn't seem to be a problem - at least we haven't yet heard of any injuries, and I bet they have at least a paramedic or two on the search and rescue team. Now, they have hope, which is huge.

A quote from general chit-chat rules" this section is for general chit -chat,current events, and other discussions not related to photography". Then a request to watch ones language. So I cleaned up my question. Why are some of you, oddjobber seems to be the ringleader, bothering this person, and the rest of us,with your diatribe. Go pull wings off flies or something.
