I agree with Mark, Microsoft support is great, try this number 888-571-2048.

Thanks for that, I'll try that too.

Good choice. I don't think that is a viable solution to your issue.

I updated from 7 to 10 last year and it's been great. Eventually they will stop supporting 7 anyway, so I don't want to go backwards now.

Yes, I know they will stop supporting windows 7 in 2020. That only means they will stop sending updates for the operating system and security fixes. Get windows 7 operating well for your programs and get a good internet security program like Eset. I have been using Eset for years, and I am careful about which sites I click on and emails that I open, and I don't use facebook. Have not had any problems for years, knock on wood! The best place to buy Eset is Amazon. I usually find a version on Amazon that is a year outdated with a 3 year license for around $30. When You follow instructions and go to install Eset They will give You the current updated version for free. Can't beat this deal and Eset's performance!

Windows 10 is full of bugs. Windows 7 handles memory much better and it is hard to find any bugs left in 7. To each their own!

You can try
"press Win Logo Key + R and type devmgmt.msc Your Raid controller will be listed, and can be rightclicked and uninstalled before starting setup"
Look under Storage

OK, I just tried what you said and it simply opens the device manager. Problem still is that on the list of stuff it displays there is nothing labeled Toshiba Raid driver or anything close to that.

I just tried that number Al and was told that it is only to activate a program(was a recording)and it didn't give me another number for support. I'm sure I can find one on google though!

It could be a corrupt update file. go to this page and download the repair tool. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/10164/fix-windows-update-errors and then retry the update.

OK, problem resolved folks! First I want to thank all of you that responded. I had to spend about 40 min on the phone with microsoft (with some tech in the Phillipines) and he found the drives buried in the registry and was able to remove them. After that the update could proceed and it took about 3 hours to download. Everything seems fine now.

Have You tried to contact Toshiba support? If that doesn't help get rid of windows 10 and install windows 7. That solves a lot of problems!!!

Exactly why I'm moving to Linux...
