My Toshiba laptop is running windows 10. It has updated many times without incident, but now i'm getting a message that windows cannot update unless I manually remove " Toshiba Raid drivers". I cannot find anything labeled that, and if I type it into the search box I get a "not found " message.

Any suggestions appreciated!

I presume you do not have a RAID disk array - several drives set up as RAID? If you had an external drive plugged in at the time it might confuse itself.

No external drive. If I don't have a raid drive it keeps telling me that the update cannot proceed until I remove it.

Try this. It generally works for me when Windows Update gets a little wonkie.
Go to: Settings and in Settings go to Windows Update and in the left hand column go to Troubleshoot and once there look in the right hand column for Windows Update for resolving problems with updating. It has worked for me in 2 different computers I've had problems with updating.

Thanks for responding. I tried that already and the same message, to remove raid drivers, appears. If I could only find those drivers!

Type "Microsoft Support" in Cortana (search box). Answer the brief questions. Eventually you will be led to either a phone call back or chat. I like chats. It does not take very long to get support. I know some may criticize this suggestion, but I have used this and have always been satisfied.
Good luck!

I tried that first Mark and wound up getting the same aforementioned message. I guess I'm gonna have to take it to a computer guy.

You can try
"press Win Logo Key + R and type devmgmt.msc Your Raid controller will be listed, and can be rightclicked and uninstalled before starting setup"
Look under Storage

Thanks, that is new to me and I'll try it as soon as I get home later.

Have You tried to contact Toshiba support? If that doesn't help get rid of windows 10 and install windows 7. That solves a lot of problems!!!

I updated from 7 to 10 last year and it's been great. Eventually they will stop supporting 7 anyway, so I don't want to go backwards now.
