Many of these were spotted while I had the dogs out on a local trail. The Hooded Oriole is a young female who, along with her brother and parents, has been frequenting the Hummingbird feeders on the back deck railing.

Vicki: Would you kindly identify the bird in the next-to-last photo? I saw one that looks like it near my home in the Texas Hill Country that I think is the same species. Since I know very little about living bird diversity, I need help. I got a photo, but haven't been able to post from the "chrome-book I'm using. By the way, I very much admire your work. --Ed

Beautiful shots Vicki; nice colors on the bird in the last shot. My favorite is #2 with its interesting background.

Thanks for the visit and comments Ed. The "mystery" bird is a young female Hooded Oriole. Her parents and brother also visit regularly to enjoy the sugar water I put in the Hummingbird feeders. They're very shy, and I have to get shots through the kitchen window.

Shooting through the tall grass was a bit of challenge, and the back lighting added another element of difficulty. I'm glad you liked that one and appreciate your thoughtful reply my friend.
