No, I don't think the Df is a niche camera, designed for people who want to spend more for fewer features.
I bought one to carry everyday; enticed by the sensor, the easy access of controls, and the overall, beautiful Nikon F look of the camera.
I also own an 800E; but the Df is my walk around unit with a 35mm 1.4 attached.
I am satisfied with that.

To address the original issue. Mine is the only one I have personally seen on the street.

They do seem kinda rare still. Mine is the only one that I have seen, too. And I've had a dozen people either ask if it is a film camera or (one guy) tell me I should get into the 21st century and move-up to digital. I just smile.

You’re satisfied with its results? I still ponder the Df. Should I look at something more current?

If you are willing to "punt" the summer, Photokina is coming up in Sept. Most likely there will be something to give you GAS at the expo.

Among the expected new mirrorless that Nikon is supposed to introduce in the future I think there may be one that look like the old Nikon film cameras too.

My reasoning was a little different. i was not unhappy with the resolution of my D7000. I just did not care for the crop format.

My two 24 MP full frame cameras showed that my lenses, although good enough for film, were on the verge of being made obsolete if I stepped up to 36 MP or more. So rather than invest a fortune on new lenses I decided to stick with what I have and use 24 MP with stitching in those rare cases where I need more resolution. When I want lots of resolution I can always use my medium and large format film cameras.

The Df is my primary camera as well. I use a 40mm f/2 Voigtlander on it most of the time and a 75-300 zoom occasionally.

I think that the crop camera image quality is good and I have no problem with them. I don't buy an APS-C camera only because I want to use the same lenses on my F3 and the DSLR and they function the same. I can shoot a shot with the film camera and put the same lens on the DSLR and shoot the exact same shot.

The Df looks great to me. I just want to know more about image quality from it. Resolution, etc. The body design really appeals to me.

Thanks

To address the original issue. Mine is the only one I have personally seen on the street.

To me except that it doesn't have a lot of MP. It has the fewest pixels in all of current Nikon cameras. But the image quality is excellent and I really like the color rendition. Noise is also excellent in my opinion.

It depends on what you need. The resolution (16 MP) is enough for most subjects.

Over 90% of these images were taken at ISO 400, 1/1000 @ f/11 and all with a 35mm F1.8 Tamron.

One benefit of the low pixel count is that it can be relatively noise-free to some pretty high ISO settings. Above ISO 400 it is has more dynamic range than my D610 and A7 II and the noise control is as good or better.

If I'm ever in Miami, I'll remember to carry mine.

I haven't seen a Df in a local store in the US either although I bought mine locally. I did see a Df in Lyon, France. One in Japan airport store and one in Hong Kong.

Kid, if you would like to see some examples, check out this thread (http://www.uglyhedgehog.com/t-501318-1.html). While the detail from the Df is not what it is with the D800 or D850, it still is really very good.

I love my Df... in fact, I have both the black and silver versions... Love 'em.
