Just for your info; Thebbie was (as she said right off) a "Hooker". The photos of her were shot on one Christmas day. For the most part, all the photos of her were shot while my GF and her son were having Christmas dinner with her husband and their son. The exception was the one in front of the fireplace. My GF was off camera right with loosely wadded newspaper she was to throw in to make the fire flare up when I made the shot.
Yep . . . it takes all kinds and I don't sit in judgment . . . unless someone brings harm to another living being (including animals . . . ESPECIALLY Animals)

In a word . . . NO. I thought I explained that particular shot. Anyway- the snow scene was shot on 4X5 B&W film in 1957. I photographed the girl 10 years later and 1800 miles away in 'Little Tujunga', CA. I took her out of the original shot (attached and not a bad shot in itself) and 'pasted' her into the snow scene. Now, this is the funny part: when I first photoshopped her into the snow scene it looked really FAKE. I solved the problem with the smallest addition: the little shadow under her butt in the snow scene! Go figure.

I like them all. It's easy to see that they're from a bygone era, but they're all good, well thought out shots. I'd love to see more.

No, I wish I had been. The comment about seeing his influence in my work is just about the nicest thing anyone ever said to me about my work with Nudes- as I think he was the VERY BEST Glamor photographer ever. But, when I first started shooting Nudes (around 1974), I wasn't aware of him. However, when I did become aware of who he was and his work, I studied everything I could find about him and his work. I did attend one of his Seminars in San Diego and later contacted him by phone- suggesting that he hold a 'Workshop' for aspiring photographers (like me, of course). He said he had been thinking about it and that was it. However, sometime later, I saw that he was, in fact, holding a workshop, but the cost was too much for my meager budget. And here's another similarity between the two of us: He began a company selling 4X5 twin lens cameras designed by him. They were pretty much 'monsters' as far as size goes. Sometime later, when I had owned and used a Hasselblad 500CM for shooting models, I decided I didn't like the single lens reflex. I hated loosing the image at the ABSOLUTELY MOST CRITICAL time (the moment of capturing the image) increasing the possibility of getting a blink, which, with the number of models I was shooting, I did, a few times! I solved this problem by taking a Mamiya 300 TLR and, after throwing the back away and then cutting about a CM off the rear of the camera itself, and grinding the outer part of a Mamiya RB 67 revolving back, I came up with this (attached). The focus was a little off (as one would expect), but I allowed for this and the mounting points (4 one for each corner) were adjustable (about 4-5 mm). I set the camera on a heavy tripod exactly 10 ft. from wall and after fixing a page of newspaper thereto, I started taking shot after shot, first with a reference shot focusing the camera according to the viewfinder, then moving the focusing knob ever so slightly forward and taking 7 more the same way . . . then starting back at the reference point and doing the same thing rearward. I just developed the film and viewed the negs with a 10X lupe and adjusted those mounting points to 'improve' the focus. It took 16 rolls of film to get it perfect. The camera will now take a 6X4.5, 6x6, and 6X7 image depending on the back used, which incidentally, is now interchangeable . So, I guess ole' Pete and I do have a few things in common.

Wow! How did In miss this post; I have gone thru ALL my comments and ALL replies to me pertaining to 'MY Vintage Nudes' and didn't see your comment. But, anyway, what I decided was: rather than submit 10 more of my Vintage Nudes via UHH and maybe make some feel I was just bragging about my work, I would get your personal email and send some directly to you. My email is mc1.hugh@gmail.com- you can reply there if interested.

But, she did give consent and was all for the shoot. The mistake that so many people make is to believe the Crap: "We hold these truths to be self evident, that all men are created equal". Probably a more damaging LIE than the one that said 'Lee Harvey Oswald killed JFK'! The girl had been a Nudist since she was a little girl and was, obviously , more open minded than most uptight Americans. As with every model I photographed, she had fun.
I should have said "legal consent". I wasn't debating the law, just stating it. Same reason a 13-yr old cannot legally buy cigarettes, liquor, property, drive, enter into binding contracts, etc. - even with their consent.

Wow, a name forgotten by me for a long time. He was one of the "fathers of glamour photography". In my 20s, I found a book of his on glamour or figures at a garage sale, had it for 30+ years until it finally did not make one of the 9 moves so far in my life.

SO? Unlike the vast majority of people that are 'mindless' (not necessarily directed at you since I don't know you, but there is a 'world' of them) and can ONLY function by following 'Rules', be they rules of a company, a commanding Officer, or 'Rules of Law', I prefer to think for myself. There are dumb laws ( I have a paper back that lists some dumb and some funny laws from various states) and there are really BAD laws that actually get innocent people killed and I chose to NOT follow those laws. The girl in question enjoyed the shoot; I have no doubt she enjoyed her natural beauty; the girl in question was 100% used to being Nude (I also have NO doubt several other Nudists took photos of her at the camp (a Difference?); and her parents were all for the shoot. What right does a politician with a bigoted, bogus religious agenda, dictate what others do? Yes, if someone forced her to do something against her will- HER WILL, not what some narrow minded politician says her will SHOULD be, I would say 'Bury the Bastard'. But this stupid country has the bogus "All men are equal' mentality, and that mentality is the source of most stupid problem, including Racial. I came about believing Americans were becoming mindless automatons some years ago and devised a test just to see if I was right. The simple test was to ask 100 people WHY they wouldn't kill someone. I expected many to say, "It's against the Law", but was hoping many would also give a thoughtful (and there are probably are several hundred) reason. I got as far as 42 and quit. The reason? 100% said, "It's against the Law" PATHETIC! I fully expect that by 2100, this county will be about as productive as Zimbabwe, Africa! Glad I won't be around. But, you have your opinion and I have mine. While I do not respect your opinion, I respect your right to have it . . . as long as you don't try to ram it down someone's throat . . . like out corrupt government does.

Snapshot18,
I sure do not want to get into a pissing or political contest here, especially with another photographer posting vintage photos that I like, but if you will re-read my original post I simply stated the photo bothered me because of her age and her inability to give (legal) consent. As for rules, you are barking up the wrong tree for I am politically an Independent Libertarian, believing that consenting ADULTS, as long as they are not hurting anyone else, should be able to do as they chose. I do NOT feel the same towards exploiting children, whether they think it is fun or not. And, I found it sad that the type of people you knew gave a 100% reason of "it's against the law" when asked about murdering someone. Vast majority of those I know would probably state something like "it is totally wrong".

So, I believe we will have to leave it that we disagree but I would suggest you read ONE RULE, even if you hate them. It is the ONLY one that is stated for this Nude Photography forum here on UHH and is always found in the very top post of this section - a rule you broke on your first post here. It reads... "Any images you upload must be of consenting adults, and you must have permission to distribute this content."

I did NOT break that rule and Parents OR Legal Guardians May give consent for their child . . . which they did and I have.
