Perceptive and intelligent as well as a talented photographer!

So why respond to someone who doesn't want to hear from you? A need to get in the last word???

Because, UHH is about conversations. If you block everybody who disagrees with you, then you become the latest Chris T on the block, and choke off conversations. What did Peterff write in the OP that in any way deserved being blocked? It's happened to me, and I don't like it when it occurs.

We could add a quick 20 pages of whether or not to use a filter for protection and the virtues of shooting RAW while we decide which lens I should take on my trip.

I have chosen to skip that thread -
any one word answer I gave would be misleading.

Polls themselves are misleading

A good poll is designed to reach a predetermined result. The one in question is doing just that.

How do I find shutter count on my Canon A-1?

Pull out the shoe boxes where the negatives are stored and count them. Hopefully you have saved all of them.

Same way that I can check shutter counts on my Zenit E, AE-1, or T90. Or Contax, or my wife's Nikon FM2n.
I regret getting pissed off at David, but I have done the research on this, and so few people on UHH actually do know how to get the shutter count info out of a Canon.
Sometimes you try to help people, and the information just falls on stony ground.
Anyhow, my apologies to the UHH community.
