I want a sony fe 70-200 GM 2.8 lens but can't afford $2500.How do I get a gray market lens?
Look for it online but make sure it comes with some kind of warranty. If the price is around 20 percent below retail, it's probably grey market.
Put international model sony fe 70-200 GM 2.8 lens in search in Bing or google.
Clever and practical idea.
I thought it just meant we would have to ship it overseas if it needed warranty work.

Some manufacturers will repair grey market here in the US, such as Canon and some Nikon items, but, they won't honor the non-USA warranty. You have to pay the going rate. I don't know what Sony's policy is regarding grey.
Some grey market is sold by reputable dealers that offer store warranties. Perhaps your best bet, if the savings warrant it.
Just be careful. Quite a few outlets offer great prices that turn out to be scams. Check out the outlet before buying.

How much do you think you will save buying gray market?

Do you want that lens or do you need it. There is a difference. If you need it you will have no choice than to buy it, gray market or not. If your budget is tight perhaps you can get a good sample in the used market and save a significant amount of money. Gray market is subject to warranty issues in many cases. If you do not need the lens and you just want it that is a different story and it is up to you or to look for an alternative if so you desire or to burn part of your bank savings.

I think the dreaded "Grey Market" has a life of its own. Some may think the product is made in some dusty basement. It is not. Nor is there any difference in the quality of the product. There is not. It's all about the warranty, not the quality.
So if the warranty is not a problem for you look for a grey market product. Some camera stores sell a grey market product. I think B&H may be one of them.
As a photographer for many years I have bought my last 4 lenses from KEH with the extended warranty and have been more than satisfied.
