My walk in Centennial Park (Nashville)

Hi folks, me again...my wife recently had a doctors appointment, so rather than sit in the waiting room...she let me out at a local park then picked me up later. These are just some candid shots around the park. And, a test to check image quality. You see...Flickr has been bought out by Smugmug and it seems to me that they've degraded the image quality somewhat. These images were all very sharp when I saved them out of Photoshop Elements but now they seem soft to me.

The Women's Suffrage statue. Tennessee was the deciding state to ratify the 19th amendment in 1920 giving women the right to vote. DSC08418-01 by James Frazier, on Flickr
The northeast side of the Parthenon. They have banks of lights are all four corners to light it up at night. DSC08460-01 by James Frazier, on Flickr

At each roof corner stands a Gargoyle that guards the Parthenon. Be warned...they can fly if needed. DSC08468-01 by James Frazier, on Flickr
The Parthenon southeast corner. It also contains a 42 foot gold covered statue of Athena inside. DSC08471-01 by James Frazier, on Flickr
Oh, one thing to note...there is netting around the artwork to keep the birds out.

So long Flickr...you've been a good photo sharing/storage site for me....

Excellent James! I spent some time earlier this week looking at images from Flickr links and decided they simply looked better on my larger monitor than on my laptop. These look great on my larger monitor, both the UHH pages and directly on Flickr.

Thanks folks, well I am disappointed...these are not as good as the originals, there is some loss of detail uploading to Flickr now. Oh well...it is what it is, so guess I'll have to deal with it for now. I do appreciate your visits despite the poor quality photos. Thanks again everyone...Ps, I hope to have some amazing scenery to share in June. I'm keeping my plans secret for now. Tune in and see in a few months.

Yea Paul, I'm can't figure it out exactly myself. I am thinking about going to a 4K (3840 pixels) monitor, but then I'd see great photos, but folk with less than that will still see so-so quality. Still, I notice when I have an album open, it looks soft till I click on one of the photos in the album, then they get clearer and sharper. This as observed on my desktop which has 1920 x 1080 max resolution. I am just at a loss as to why when I'm in Photoshop my images look great, but then when I upload them...that superb detail disappears. I hate it.

Now that I've finished today's edit and posting project, maybe there's something in the user log / help section for Flickr. To my eyes, yours all look great with no question of softness. I was concerned enough I came back to my images in LR so see what was going on. The originals, in LR, when zoomed 100% have more detail. But, I'm looking at an 1920x1080 crop from the RAW at dimension 6000x4000. After resizing the 2048, the images shouldn't appear "soft" although the same details are not there when a 1920x1080 crop is viewed at 100%.

Great shots of the Parthenon, James. I’ll bet it looks impressive with the lights at night. I hope all is well with you and your lovely wife. Spring is finally here so we can all get out with our cameras again.

Who knows...I've tried a lot of things, but my images are never as crisp and clear and when I'm working on the on my desktop in Photoshop. Not a big deal...but something is lost during the upload process. These were uploaded as full sized images at 5472 x 3080 (16:9 aspect ratio) and they still exhibit some loss of detail. No big deal...just an annoyance more that anything. Thanks for your thoughts and ideas though, I appreciate your efforts to help out.

Thanks John, yep hanging in there. So far so good...Hope all is well with you and your lovely wife as well. One of these days, I got to get up to the New England area. I love American history and that's the place where it all began.
