Until you try an articulated touchscreen you have no idea how much more convenient that is. Plus, better live view focusing, better processor, faster continuous shooting, more pixels, more focus spots, etc, etc. For about $1800, got the camera and a Canon battery grip, minus the trade in value of the 6D. No regrets here.

I'm glad you're happy. I am very familiar with articulating touch screens and I know the value they can provide some people. The point is that the Canon 6D Mark II is not a bad camera on an absolute basis. It's just that as an upgrade to the original 6D it falls short compared to its full frame competition. Most of these new features you talk about are gleaned from the Canon 80D, which for the most part is a crop framed version of the 6D Mark 2 for a very significant amount of money less and with a much wider spread of the 45 Focus points across the screen.

I only use the center point, so that's moot to me. I have two good friends with 5D4's, and they don't do anything I want that the 6D2 won't do for me, and their screens don't articulate. Anyone who likes to do macro close to the ground will appreciate the articulated screen, especially when they're getting a little older (like me) and don't want to lay on their bellys any more.

Why would somebody who enjoys shooting a full frame 6D want to replace it with a T7i (a crop sensor camera that is in no way comparable to the quality of the 6d, imo)? I had a 6d, which was one of the best cameras I've owned. The biggest limitation for me was the limited AF system, which appears to be significantly improved on the 6D II. I upgraded to the 5d mk iv when it first came out and am very happy with the camera. I probably would be happy with the 6d II. I got the mk iv for the improved mpx, af system, etc., and haven't been disappointed. It never occurred to me that I wanted either a touch screen or a flip screen, but once using them (the touch screen on the mk iv, the flip screen on other cameras), I am glad to have them. A friend is using my 6d now, and it is still capable of producing excellent photos. I suspect the 6d II would make it slightly easier given the improvements in Af and the flip screen, not to mention the increased megapixels. There will be those who will encourage you to switch brands--that is your choice, but I can't imagine selling a 6d for a T7i (it is a good camera, to be sure, but not at all in the same category as a 6D, I might think of substituting it for my Sl2--and even then probably wouldn't, but that is the category of camera it is in).
Why would somebody who enjoys shooting a full fram... (show quote)

Did you read the post that I responded to? That post said that the OP should sell the 6D and get the T7i and get the extra money. Without saying that the 6D is a better camera but if the OP would do that he would have to spend some money and not getting any money back.

You are right, I should have commented on the post you were referring to. You are, of course, right.

You spent $2,000 just to get an articulated touchscreen!?

I thought we'd settled this nine months ago when you wrote this:

Should I upgrade to the new Canon 6D MKII?

Now as then, the answer is still yes. I did it to acquire a feature that I wanted which answered a need.

I guess I should be grateful you're concerned for my welfare, but just so you know in the future; I'll spend my money as I damn well please and don't expect to answer to you or anyone else. Thank you very much.

I didn't recall the previous thread from 9 months ago, and of course its your money to spend any way you want, but I do stand by my opinion.
