This camera has a great 10x focusing function... Any way to shoot pics accessing that mag?

Pretty sure that is just to help with focusing.

It only magnifies the live view, for any physical "magnification", you do need a lens that does let you do that (or a software hack)!

No. It just to makes it easier to focus manually in Live View.

Sure.... put a 500mm lens on it.

Or you could crop the images heavily in post-processing.

The "10X" function only applies to playback of images or Live View focusing on with the LCD screen.

"Digital zoom", which many point n shoot cameras have, basically sucks. If the 5D4 had "10X digital zoom", the resulting images would be tiny, less than 1MP (instead of 30MP). In effect, if you used such a digital zoom on the camera you'd be "throwing away" 95% of the reason you bought the camera in the first place.

Even at 1.74X, which is a crop the 5D IV uses while shooting 4K video, all that's left is a little less than 9MP of resolution.

Oh, and BTW, I think you'll find that all the Canon DSLRs and MILC have 10X magnification in playback and Live View... have had on every model I've used. I imagine most other brands do the same.

All that being said... This is the most accurate focusing camera I have ever seen. The touch screen pointer and 10x are super.

10X is the same as cropping to 10% of the original image.

you are correct on this all the way back to my original digital rebel (350d) but that required a software hack since live view was not a factory option on it

My 5s is a great focuser but slow shooter.
My 1Dx is still way better focuser and shoots really fast but at low mp. But no touch screens.
When I used to check for sharp focus on the LCD of my 5ll at 10x, everything looked in focus but on the computer it might not be so.
These new LCD's at 10x on the LCD you can really SEE the sharpness. The amount of pixels on the new LCD's is amazing!!!
