The ratio of stabbing deaths compared to rifle deaths was about 4 to 1 in 2016!

London mayor wants to disallow purchases of knives in certain ways. How will they cut their meat?

A growing number of murderous assaults with motor vehicles points to an incapable fact: those who want to kill will find a way, no matter the means they have to use. The largest school death total occurred when a couple of anarchists blew up an elementary school in, I believe Pennsylvania.

It was sadly the Bath School in Michigan (44 killed by an explosive device), followed by the VA Tech shooting (32 killed).

For goodness sake, this point of this post is all about you -- keeping your gun ---
As far as I'm concerned -- Keep the damn thing --- But keep it locked-up & unloaded
As for me --
I'll keep my Steak Knives in the kitchen drawer ---
Thank You

More people die every year on the nations' highways than in explosions, knives and guns combined. I haven't heard a whisper about banning cars and especially those evil black trucks that look like they were created to kill people.

You sound a little unhinged to me. Are you sure you are qualified to own steak knives? If you are, for God's sake keep them locked up!

All that may be true, so we should just do nothing ! That has worked really well. It's easy just ignore the problem and maybe it will go away. Maybe we should just count on X number of children being killed each year as part of our American life today. ----------------------- No one, but no one in this country needs an assault rifle, except the law and the military. Manufacturing an assault rifle and calling it a sport rifle wont work either. I have no problem with having a pistol in the house for protection providing everyone in the house has has been trained and certified. The amendment that all gun lovers keep referring to was written in the 17oos before automatic weapons existed. I don't pretend to have all the answers, but doing nothing will do exactly that ----Nothing.

If the people are dying on the highways, don't ban cars, ban highways.

How about doing something about the people who use these weapons to kill. I grew up in a time when we had gun clubs in our schools and students actually brought there guns to school. Amazing. Not one single person was ever shot. We actually put a value on life.

That's the OP's point. We haven't done NOTHING...we've done LOTS of wrong things.

We legal gun owners want things done...but we want things that make sense and will work.

The fact is; it's not the availability or amount of guns that is the problem. I live in West Virginia and EVERYBODY shoots, owns, loves, and carries guns of every type; pistols, revolver, shotguns, AR style, AK style...you name it.

Every 10 year old kid can and does shoot and hunt...and pretty well.

Even with this saturation of firearms we don't go around shooting each other.

We agree, SOMETHING needs to be done...but it isn't the thing that's been done so far...taking guns away from folks who aren't breaking the law isn't it.

Sorry friend the facts don't support your statement.
West Virginians are more likely than people in other states to use guns to kill wives and girlfriends, to kill people accidentally and to kill themselves, according to a new report released this week.

The report, from the Center for American Progress, looked at 10 categories of gun violence. It found that West Virginia ranks among the top in several areas, including the export of guns later used in crimes, mass shootings, fatal gun accidents, gun-related suicides, police officers killed with a gun, fatal shootings by police and gun-related murders of women by intimate partners.

Nobody, I think, is advocating doing nothing. But stronger firearm laws aren't going to do it. We already have a myriad of strong laws regulating firearm ownership and use. Just as we have strong laws against theft, arson, mayhem etc. etc. But they all still happen. The common theme? People who choose to ignore the laws and commit crimes, and that will continue to happen until time ends.
Let's try armed teachers and guards in schools and see how that works. If it doesn't work (it will) we can try something else.

Here is another statistic:
More people die on India's roads every Hour
than died in the Twin Towers.

Nobody is going to war in India.....

Sad fact is People Die and politicians 'have to make a statement'. Some are useful but most aren't......If we could keep everyone safe.....there would be overcrowding.
