btw - Thanks for the reminder on this event! I just purchased a week long ticket and a campsite. Now, let's hope the weather cooperates.

I'm going to try to make it - sounds like a good show this year (well, it's ALWAYS a good show unless a tornado comes waltzing through...I wasn't there that year but I was for rain-magedon). I hope to go to AOPA's fly-in in Missoula, MT just because it's been years since I've been west of the "Big Muddy". Otherwise I'll need to go to Carbondale (BS '98 Aviation Management - not that it did me any good :( ) I'm at my brother's house this weekend and his plane just got out of annual and need some exercise. I might go up with him in the next few days. Just for the heck of it I Googled his N# and there were several pics of it on line. I was surprised!

You stated your picture would be mounted on an 11x14 board, but you didn't know how you would hang the board. I assume, then, you're not framing the board. Do you have a Hobby Lobby store in your area? There are these things that you stick onto the back of foamcore (or light board) that is a plastic sawtooth hanger. They're quite inexpensive. One of them would work quite well. The adhesive is really good. I have purchased these at HB. Not sure who else carries them.

Yes we do have a Hobby Lobby, about 4 or 5 miles away. I'll check them out for some supplies. I asked about custom framing once and almost fell over - they were extraordinarily ridiculous (IMO) regarding the prices they wanted for frame, matte and glass. At the shop I've used before (family business) I could probably get 3 or 4 8x10s done for what HL wanted for one...speaking of which, now that I have my car paid off I need to get some art prints framed (24x36???). I bought 3 signed and numbered prints at an airshow several years ago and so far have only gotten one done because it was well over $300, more than what the 3 prints cost me together...a recreation of the Wright brother's first flight, and one each of Lindbergh and Earhart with their record-setting planes.

What can I say. Quality framing is expensive.

Never thought of that...I'd have to go back and in-crop the image and adjust and see how it looks..as cropped I lose a bunch of the image. Rotating 90 degrees is to extreme of an angle and seems to make the planes less of a strong subject, in my opinion. I'll give it a shot. Here is a frame or two out of sequence and rotated 30 degrees. otherwise it's SOOC (not the one I'd enter...just experimental)

I would also consider adding some circular blur to the props.

in our local photo club end-of-year contest. We can submit up to 3, color or B/W, taken within the prior fiscal year (since May 1, 2017). Pretty much most of them I've taken during this period of time were taken at Oshkosh (world-famous major aviation convention). I thought this would be a good one...I hear that the guest judge likes vivid colors. Pics can be any size, but must be mounted on an 11x14 board. Opinions?

Superb!!! Good luck!
