In this video, it was mentioned that the viewfinder wasn't framing the same as the picture. What's up with that???
actually there are a couple of reasons i don't like to change in the field. First and foremost, when i change lens from shooting wildlife for a nice landscape, invariably a good wildlife shot crops up. I changed lenses at Glacier NP to shoot landscape. As i did, a Big Horn Sheep came ambling by. Couldnt change lens fast enough. So i got in the habit of point/shoot + DLSR combo in the field. works great. Now want to upgrade to something with better image quality. A high quality mirrorless seems a good option. I could use my EF Canon lenses on it in a pinch as the back-up body, get good focusing and good frame-rate for wildlife, if needed. Light weight too.
Changing lenses in the field not so bad in a good environment. do it in the dusty deserts of Asia or the dripping rain forests and one is risking a lot. I know all the tricks and have been shooting for a long time and prefer not to swap lenses. I have no problem carrying two cameras in the field. the back-up body with a wide angle lens for landscapes makes a lot of sense to me.
The M50 of M5, even though new and better coming out, seem to have some nice qualities for not a lot of cash. So i might just take the plunge
see response to SPeters above.
interested to hear what you would recommend. Has to be compatible with my Canon EF lenses though

I have been googling the issue here for a while and there seems to be no reference to a failure in horizontal AF with DPAF. Perhaps others can find definitive proof it has this failure.
I found this in the 5D Mark IV manual, page 324 about auto focusing in LiveView:
Quote:
"Shooting Conditions that Make Focusing Difficult:
...
* Stripes and other patterns where there is contrast only in the horizontal direction.
