I live near Death Valley and it is raining here today. Don't know if it will reach into DV but if it does then wildflowers should be starting. If you go up Highway 395 stop in to the Alabama Hill at Lone Pine. Mt. Whitney is right there too. Good luck with a Joshua Tree photo. I've got dozens and they all are marginal. Put something in the foreground, even a large rock. Enjoy.

Lots of great suggestions. If you are headed out of the park toward Lone Pine, you might want to check our Sierra Gordo Mine.
