I spoke with X-Rite and here is what the technician told me. Use your ExpoDisc to set the white balance and ColorChecker Passport to correct the colors. The two devices address different issues.
You can use gray cards for white balance but keep two things in mind. First, you do not know if the card is actually true. The ExpoDisc is calibrated to assure that. Second, you cannot always get a shot with the gray card in it. You can always get your ExpoDisc shot.

That's how I use both.
Using the ExpoEisc to set the white balance before I shoot gets me really close. I sometimes send straight to web with minimal post.
ColorChecker to make the colors more accurate, something the ExpoDisc or grey cards can't do.
