It might be helpful if you had some understanding of the European land war as it was taking place in 1941 before making silly comments like that.

The Battle for Britain was over and the Brits won it. Without control of the air over the English Channel, there is no way Hitler could have invaded the UK. Hitler realized this fact and, in his frustration, turned to the East and, on 22 June, 1941, lost the war.

Russians launched their own Winter Offensive around Moscow in December 1941 against the German Army Group Center and drove that Army Group almost all the way back to Smolensk.

Germany was never able to recapture the lost territory and the main fighting in 1942 moved to Army Group South, the Caucasus and Stalingrad. Ask Paulus how well that went for the German 6th Army.

D-Day would have never taken place if the Red Army had not chewed up hundreds of the best German divisions in the east. Compared to battles like Kursk and Kharkov, the Normandy invasion was a sideshow.

I am not saying this to detract from the bravery shown on Omaha and the other landing zones, but every World War II historian will tell you the European War was lost by Germany on the steppes of Russia. The Soviet Army suffered more dead and wounded in one battle than the American forces did in the whole European campaign.

Our monster, Stalin, was stronger than the German monster, Hitler.
