This is only a 3 minute watch..Its very good. Sorry about the "F" word being used 3 times, but if you can tolerate that, the message is definitely worth while.

Hi Bud,
That's the most honest report card on the state of the USA I've had the opportunity to lessen to recently. I do feel that a vast number of Yanks still think that the sun still shines out of their 'capital city'. No country on earth is even close to perfect, good, right or even nice, so why oh why does the USA seem to still think that they are "The greatest country in the world". What bloody arrogance! I'm sure some of its citizens also agree with the report.

"Why America is the greatest country in the world" ?

HA HA HA some folks will believe anything.

'America(s)' is not a country : it's a continent. Often for geographical convenience divided into North America, Central America, and South America.

The former British colony, mainly situated between Mexico and Canada, is I understand, now known as the United States of America.

BTW - I keep meaning to ask, are you getting along, without too many difficulties, without us ? I'm sure you'll get the hang of self-governance, given another hundred years or so ....

Thank you, Toadslayer, for asking. Some of us are getting along just fine since we cut the apron strings. By the way, this former British colony never did extend very far.

This is a clip from the opening episode of an HBO series called The Newsroom. The series is "fiction" not fact. It is based on the writers opinion. It is good television and nothing more.

Do we believe we live in the Greatest Country on Earth - of course we do; just like you Brits and Aussie's. It isn't arrogance. It is called national pride. Our leaders think they know it all and can "fix" every other country. We don't believe that, but we are working on fixing them. Unfortunately, our constitution doesn't permit neutering. 8-)

Who said " there are lies, damned lies, and statistics"? There is SOME truth in the video, but also a great deal of venom! I don't believe that my country is the greatest, but like the US of A we are working at it. We all have our nationalistic pride - including Iraq and Afghanistan! But We ALL have much to learn!!

I, as a proud and willfully patriotic citizen of the United States, am abjectly embarrassed when I see one of our leaders/politicians, probably a lawyer, most likely a grown up wimp who never tasted a set of knuckles, on tv, and therefore now on a worldwide stage, saying we are the greatest country in the world or the greatest country of all time whether we are or not. What comes to mind is the bully on the playground who stands up and declares himself to be the toughest and smartest kid in the school. I, for one, was/am inclined to stand up and invite him to put that to a test as I begin to unbutton my shirt, which I have done on more than one occasion.

It is patently belittling to all other countries who are our proud friends and an in-your-face challenge to those who are not. In any event, it is an invitation to trouble and may very well be partially behind many of the problems we are now having.

It is also noteworthy that we are not the only country who holds to that belief and also are not the only country that has been known to express it, the French, British, and other members of 'The Commonwealth notwithstanding.'

This is the most painful but accurate 3 minute video that I honestly have ever sat and watched. It proves something that we ALL learned experiencing life, Honesty Hurts! To think that at a time in the past we were all of these things, now we "AMERICA" is the laughing stock of the world.

If we are to depend on our military to protect us and our homeland it is like depending on the local drunk to do it.

If we are to depend on our leaders to do what is right for us
we are better off like the Ostrich, stick our heads in the sand so we don't see it coming".

The saddest part of all of this is that it is our fault. Our Forefathers planted the seeds of this great nation and WE have failed to properly tend the garden. Greed, Jealousy, Envy, Denial and Lies have done nothing to nourish it.

And this is our fault, what is next?

The United States of America, has been known as " America ", for as long as it's been formed. Maybe you heard the songs , " God Bless America " ." America the Beautiful ".
What's that famous song about england? Do they even have one ?
BTW-How's the old lady the " Queen " doing. Exactly what does she do for England ? See here in the "colonies ", we don't have to bow to anyone, even if they are worth $ 5 or 10 Billion dollars.
How's your parliament doing ? Stopped raining yet ? People in glass houses.............

The country of my father was the Greatest. I went to war for My country and not everybody thought it was so great. Our "leaders" waste time trying to bring down Roger Clemens. I think they should find better things to do. I am not sure what we are about any more
