Well beast of burden also include cattle, sheep and goats. Is a muscle not an organ?
I will eat horse meat due to the odor when being cooked.

Can I not have an opinion? Jeez...and I don't like goat or sheep, or frogs or many other things for food...and yes you are correct, organs do have muscle tissue in them..some move things along...not eating that one for sure...

I agree, it is heartbreaking, and I have not watched any of the Olympics from South Korea because of their dog meat farms. In America, our dogs enjoy protection from abuse under animal cruelty laws. Yet also here in America public officials murder millions of our dogs each year in our animal shelters, at taxpayer expense, under the guise of “animal control.” To me, my dogs, picture annexed, are my family. I think that America should recognize by constitutional amendment that all domesticated animals like dogs and cats have a civil right to life and happiness. I think that such a constitutional amendment is probably the only way to end the slaughter of our dogs and cats in our animal shelters.

When people have an empty stomach and need of food they will eat a lot of things. insects are very popular in places along with other animals, I often wonder what the people of North Korea eat!

Easy, anything they can get.

"I think that America should recognize by constitutional amendment that all domesticated animals like dogs and cats have a civil right to life and happiness. Yes, insane and out of touch with reality. There are too many cartoons, TV shows, etc. depicting "lower animals" as having the same mind set as humans thereby reinforcing our outlook on reality…although humans are not very far away from the "animal instincts." There are humans who are on the same plane as "lower animals." Just analyze the way we go to war, etc. -- I say the human has many shingles missing, loss balls, touched, etc. We will never be able to live an ideal life in the eyes of others. And religion -- don't get me started! LOL

When we lived in Southern San Diego, we had Philippino neighbors that had a variety of dogs. Seems they only lasted a few months each. One day they had a bar-b-que in the back yard and several of them made the mistake of looking over our fence. At the time we had large black lab for a pet. He tried his best to eat the wooden fence to get at our neighbors. Come to find out they were eating their dogs and thought ours would make a great meal. I turned them in to the authorities but they couldn't do anything without any evidence.

When Lewis and Clark crossed the country to explore and map the Louisiana territory they fed themselves on what hunting was available. When the hunting was scarce, they would trade with the local Indian tribes for dogs because many of the natives ate dog meat. So dog meat took a part in the nation's birth.

Donner party of five, Donner, party of four...yeah, I guess if you’re hungry enough, you’ll eat the south end of a north bound skunk.
Back when in the USAF, I had to go through SERE school, that was a life lesson on eating grub worms, roots, whatever you could snare. So yes, you’ll do what it takes to survive, and there are things you’ll scour to eat, and I’ve already done that.
Unless the SHTF anytime soon, I’ll keep my trusty pooch as my companion, who knows, he might wind eating me at that point...

As a vegetarian, I do not eat ANY meat of any kind. Therefore, I can look any animal in the eye and feel no guilt whatsoever. I won't preach one thing, then do another.
It is a personal choice that most have no trouble living with, however, "civilized" people do not choose to torture an animal with the superstitious idea that it will make the meat more tender. I won't look at the videos of these dogs being beaten or boiled alive. There is a big difference in a "clean kill" and deliberate torture.
By the way, cows, steers, pigs and chickens are not always rendered unconscious before the meat processing begins.

I read recently that plants do have "feelings" something like pain - when a tree is cut it sends electrical signals like wounded human flesh. Check the latest issue of SMITHSONIAN March 2018. So - there! LOL

In that case, I will be quick and show mercy when I kill them.
Since plants do not have a brain, which is where all of our senses are derived, I don't see how that is possible.
In any case, I shall be merciful.
