About 42K people get killed in motor vehicle accidents per year.
Put restrictions on speedometers at 75 MPH.
Shut down all TV programing one night per month for 1/2 hour on driver training.
All smart phones stream driver training.
No driving on the road during this 1/2 hr. No driving in snow or heavy rain & all vehicles automatically slow down to 35MPH in rain & wind storms.
All motor vehicles have sensors for tail gating. Must have 30 ft distance.

In CA, back in the 1980's, local TV channel stopped all programming for 1hr. Showed 1 hour of life in a prison with all the vulgar talk.
This was startling. Showing how violent people lived. Many young people want food, commit a crime, get arrested.

Okay, so this is pretty stupid. Just look at history with cars. When motor vehicle deaths were epidemic, we instituted safety programs, engineering solutions. Made the cars better, put in head restraints, three-point seatbelts, crumple zones, and safety glass.
We re=engineered our roads to reduce the severity of accidents.
We lowered the legal alcohol content in a drivers blood to .08.
We succeeded in reducing motor vehicle deaths.
But guns. No there isn't anything we can do to keep our children from being killed in school, theaters and concerts. That's just too hard.
