Your pictures are excellent my friend. In its time this facility must have been great looking as well as state of the art. Happily there are better ways now to treat those with mental problems. Unhappily we have too may who need help who are not getting it. The film of the vandalized interior is a disgrace to all who indulge in it. Now I'll get off my soap box.....

You can stand on your soap box as long as you want... I never tire of hearing you!! But so true, back then those procedures were state of the art and this place was packed to capacity and then some... very sad seeing what these kids did to the insides of all these buildings, it's crazy that they see destroying property as fun to do!! UGH....
Glad you enjoyed this set and I hope you are enjoying the weekend!! ....we might wake up to a white morning!!!
Your photos show the end of one of the biggest industries on Long Island a generation ago! These state run mental hospitals were the largest in the world at the time.

All we've been getting is rain and grey skies... today the sun actually was out for a while and you heard right... they're saying that white stuff might fall, but seeing is believing!! When are you coming home?? The temps are supposed to get warm again, so it will melt fast!
Hope you're having a great time!!
Thanks Doc for your comments and I'm glad you look... (

It's so pretty all in white... it's still snowing, but tomorrow the temps will be in the 40's so this will be shorted lived!

Thanks Hal for your visit and comment... I can't imagine the horrors that went on inside those walls years ago, but back then, that was the norm and even some procedures were considered state of the art!! Very sad to see the remains...
Wow! That download is really scary! When I was in nursing school we affiliated for 3 months to Norristown State Hospital. Had some scary moments there, especially in the underground tunnels that connected the buildings. Very good images, Angela, and the download reveals so much!
