Wow! You don't always have to show the whole body especially if you want to show a closeup with lots of detail. Took me quite a while to learn this. In this case I would have zoomed in closer.
Exactly! For the cheetah shot, the lens was at full 400mm, with a moving animal. Thanks for commenting.
Thank you to everyone for viewing and taking the time to comment.
Great set - particularly impressed by the first 4 as I have just purchased the Tamron 18-400 - can't wait to get out and take some shots.

Nice shots. Love the Cheetah and Lion.
Great shots Dean. I just bought this lens on Thursday, stopped at a bird sanctuary on the way home, waited two hours and the birds had taken the day off. Not one bird in two hours. I did get some pretty good barn on the hillside pics. I'm really looking forward to getting to know this lens.

deanfl , these are nice zoo shots. If you don't mind I would say that the feet of big cats have been cut specially of the cheetah. I hope you will watch that animals feet are not cut this way. Your cheetah shot would have been great if his feet were showing fully.
Since you already said it, I'll just add that I agree.

What a nice set Dean. To me it is all about the light and the one of the lion is fantastic. The light and shadow give the photo depth. Keep shooting. Remember look for the light.

Outstanding, beautiful images, Dean!

Here is a photo of the lion I took earlier. His tail must be lip smacking good. I think he chewed on it for 5 minutes. This also shows that I don’t always cut the feet off of animals!
That's a funny expression.
Nice shots! thanks for sharing
