I just returned from the Tampa area. The first 4 photos were taken with the Tamron 18-400. The last photo was taken with a Sigma 150-600 Contemporary. My Nikon D5500 was used for all the photos.

Excellent set.

deanfl , these are nice zoo shots. If you don't mind I would say that the feet of big cats have been cut specially of the cheetah. I hope you will watch that animals feet are not cut this way. Your cheetah shot would have been great if his feet were showing fully.

My nemisis... cutting feet out of photos. My partner has pointed out this very thing to me on many occassions. I now ALWAYS check my composition to be sure feet are included when they are present, even if later to be cropped out. I am a hobbiest bordering on enthusiast. I have been working on my skills with a DSLR for over a decade and try to improve with every outing, but "the eye" for composition is an elusive thing for me. But I am determined that someday I will be at least good at my hobby.

Thank you for viewing and commenting. I will consider your suggestion on feet crops for the future.

you should always get a little more in the original shot than you think you will need. Cropping was invented for that purpose!

Very nice. Was the lion licking his chops looking at you?

Love the cats, obvious what the lion is thinking...

Here is a photo of the lion I took earlier. His tail must be lip smacking good. I think he chewed on it for 5 minutes. This also shows that I don’t always cut the feet off of animals!

I know that you like the shot, but it makes me very sad. Tail chewing is usually a sign of boredom of the chewer. Same with horses that bob their heads, or crib the barn. Many symptomatic signs of animals that are not stimulated as they would be in the wild. So Sad...

Wow! You don't always have to show the whole body especially if you want to show a closeup with lots of detail. Took me quite a while to learn this. In this case I would have zoomed in closer.
