Take a look at the Fuji XE3 (or XE2s) with an 18-55 or 16-55 zoom. Great performance in a small, light package with a decent (APC) sized sensor for good low light performance.

Hi! I typically shoot with a Nikon DSLR (currently D5600), but am going to Italy in May and want something smaller and more discreet for street photography. I have seen some wonderful photos with the Sony RX100 v and wondered if anyone had any experience with them?

I have both the Sony RX100iii and Fuji X100F for travel, etc. The Sony is great because it is so small and is a small zoom. Great to slip in a pocket and forget about. However, if people are my target, the Fuji easily dances past the Sony. Its colors and incredible ability to capture a 3 D look is unequaled. Some of my best portraits and people photos are done with this little Fuji. I like it so much that I have a X100S under the seat in my car permanently for those moments a phone just will do! So, I travel with both and leave the big kits behind. Cheers!!!

Consider Canon’s new G1x Mark III. It has a APS-C sensor and good stabilization and low light capability. It’s really a mirrorless without interchangeable lens feature.

I also use a Canon G7X Mark II that is wonderful and fits the bill for travel. My Canon EOS APS-C is now left at home. Initially I felt the range was a little short but have found we only need more distance on rare occasion and when we do my wife may pack a Canon Powershot SX200 IS which is even smaller, has more range and still takes great shots. If I shot much video I would have gone with Sony RX model but personally prefer Canon’s resolution and color for stills. Main point is our travel has become much more enjoyable withou packing so much glass. If my main focus is strictly photo after photo then I will use my bulkier glass packages, but the versatility and convenience of smaller units today has changed my direction and comfort level. So much quality out there today.

I agree with rjwallace the the Fuji X 100F is the way to travel. This APS-C camera is small in size, one of the best street cameras and can shoot raw, however, the JPEG's from this camera rival cameras twice the size. Check it out.

Went to Sicily last year. Took my Olympus Pen F and 14 - 42 pancake lens. It was outstanding and with the small Peak Design belt clip I could easily get to it and it was safe from shop lifters. I also took a 40 - 160 lens that I did not use.

Regardless of which camera you decide on, I can't recommend highly enough the belt clip Both hands are free and it is very secure.

I do like my Panasonic ZX40, GREAT Zoom, and the SCN features you can get low light and through window shots. It has that pano feature as well - 10 cm of movement gets you full pano's. And it two years old so the price is great.

I've travelled extensively with multiple cameras including the Sony Rx100 Mk2 (Mk 4 now current).
I love that little camera! I have many, many "keepers", including some 14x17" enlargements. It has been and remains a superb pocket camera>

I just recently took one to Israel. It is a terrific little camera. I had my larger dslr with me too, but there were places where it was more practical to use the RX100 V. I highly recommend it. I found that it did pretty well in both very bright sun and in darker night settings. I also like its many features and especially being able to shoot in raw at higher and lower fstops than a lot of smaller cameras though I tended to keep it at f5.6-f8. My only complaint about it really is that I wish it had a longer zoom, but the p&s cameras with longer zooms didn't satisfy me much when I tried them out in the store. I also liked the rx100 v because I could carry it in my pocket.

I have a belt pouch for my RX 100 II that goes with my on every vacation. I also take a second pocket Sony with a 24-720 mm zoom with it's own belt pouch. My hands are free to hold my lovely wife's hand, most of the time. Travel lite, travel right.

I believe the E2S is still 16 Mp while the new XE3 is 24 megapixels of superb Fuji X Trans Sensor. Big difference.

I just picked up a Fujifilm X trans X-E1 with the fabulous Hexanon 40MM f1.8 legacy lens (manual focus) adapted. Picked it up for $200 on eBay.

I have owned two Sony Rx 100's. The first was the RX 100 and the second the Rx100iii. I loved both, but lost the first in Vietnam, leaving it on a bus. It is so small and black , of course, so easy to lose. I loved it so much my husband graciously bought me another. I take it often on trips to be lighter weight and more discreet. Most people dont think you're going to be taking serious pics with it. I cannot see any difference in picture quality between it and my Nikon d7000. The only issue with it are that it does not take an accessory flash, cannot take other lenses and it's focus is so good that I have found it nearly impossible to blur a background. I have even found a way to reduce flash glare by simplyt holding the little flash so it tips up and bounces light off a ceiling. I'm sure Sony would not recommend that, but if you're careful, it seems to work well and I haven't damaged my camera yet. Good luck.

Fuji XE2/2s with 16-50mm lens or 18 -55m lens. They can be picked up at great prices. Same goes for XT1 with same lenses. The advantage with the XE2/16-50mm is weight. VV light.
