You're wrong, Visa overstays are account for about 40% of illegal immigration, the rest are coming over our border, they come in droves. Are you really suggesting that the Berlin Wall didn't work? Asfar as the 25 billion dollars go, it is nothing compared to what our government wastes year in and year out, Trump ran on that wall and he won on that wall, he was very clear in his platform, suck it up buttercup, it is what the people who elected Trump want and it will be funded.

And that's where a breakdown exists. Visas expire, and we do nothing about it. Take away the "benefits" when a Visa expires (housing, education, food stamps) and illegals might be influenced to do what it takes to stay here (become citizens).

The East German wall worked because they killed anyone trying to breach it. You want to lose your life? Try to climb the wall. We can't do that here. We value human life, unlike the Germans did under Hitler. Trump is nothing like Hitler. It's really unfair to compare the two.

Is the Berlin Wall still standing? No because it didn't work, even when the East Germans turned it into a killing zone on their side. People still got across into West Berlin. It is a well known and documented fact, if you care to look it up, that Visa overstays outnumber illegal border crossings, and have for some time now. You don't have to believe me and that is your right to your opinion. My opinion is that the wall will never work and there are better ways to control people and drugs coming across the southern border.

That wall didn't work and neither will this one. There are other ways to deter illegals and as you say as Visa's expire there are no consequences to their actions. America needs to figure out a path to citizenship for them in a way that we on both sides of the aisle agree on.

Remove incentives.

We are the land of opportunity, but only if you come here legally. It's important to check people coming here for disease and instability. We have seen what allowing them here on a freebie does.

Having lived in Germany I know that the wall worked very well. You didn’t have hundreds of East Germans crossing every day.
The wall only came down when the 2 Germanys were reunited and it was no longer needed.
So your commented on the wall is false and misleading.
Yes it didn't run the entire length of the border. The Soviets used mines, barbed wire and armed guard towers where there was no wall. Also very effective.

Big difference between a 109 mile border and a border that is 2000+ miles.

We have fences 'walls' at many places along our border we may need more in some places. A great big beautiful wall is not going to make you any safer. Nor will a wall keep drugs out of this country.

More ways of surveillance are needed.

That would take Trump's congress to fund.

I know Trump has got many people scared, for them a blanket over the head would probably be best for them.

I'm sure the drug cartels will understand and quit shipping into the US and the illegals coming in across the border will go South instead of North?
