Your cartoon reminds me of what I used to do with my kids when they were small. I would put one eye up to one of their ears, then pan their head around the room and describe what I could see (with my other eye, of course). They really thought they had no brains... or they thought there was a tunnel!!!
It's a good thing they never tried to "thread" that tunnel with a piece of dental floss or wire. In retrospect, it probably was a dumb thing for me to do... unless they had it figured out and were fooling me!!!
This slide rule is set for Nikon with the crop factor of 1.53. Locate the actual focal length on the C scale and read off the 35mm equivalent on the D scale.
